“I feel like I should have the title as best hip-hop artist in San Diego, with a bag of chips on the side!”
“I don’t need to bring the next generation of kids into an industry where it’s constantly putting them down, racially degrading them.” - Sheissobad.com

When it comes down to it, El Gun spits darts. He’s an MC in its truest form. Peep his latest video for his song “Superhero”. It was filmed during San Diego’s world reknown Comic Convention. - EARMILK.com

"The Letter E in EL GUN LEGRO"

A couple of months ago, my buddy Matt contacted me about an up and coming underground rap artist local to San Diego. Turns out, Matt’s his manager, and was throwing his debut album release party. unfortunately, I couldn’t make it. However, I met up with Matt, and the underground rapper El-Gun Legro for a bite and a night out. I also got a chance to grab El-Gun’s new CD, promising to write a review.

El-Gun, apologies for the delay, but here it is. I’m no expert on underground rap, so I’ll do my best.

"The Way of EL Gun"

Hip-hop is way too serious. It seems that if rappers aren't trying to look really cool with fly clothing or fly jewels or fly girls, they're trying to look really hard by talking about drug dealing and killing dudes. And then, you have all those other rappers trying to look really righteous by trying to "save hip-hop" (because clearly, the death of a musical genre is the No. 1 humanitarian crisis in the world today). Oftentimes, I just want them all to chill a little bit. CONT.

Dave Chappelle famously said “you never know where the line is until you have crossed it.” Southern California Hip Hop artist and creative mad man, El Gun Legro embodies this saying, with his unique blend of original lyrics over top-notch production and crossed with his unique appearance, he is quickly crossing the lines between regional fame and international success

From the first time El Gun recorded a song he was hooked. The creativity he felt in being able to create the music coupled with the incredible praise he received from fellow artists and producers proved that it was time for him to really begin taking music seriously. In between recording sessions El Gun found himself performing at his first show in 2009 at the Battle of The Artists Competition. Although, there was a number of talented artists performing that evening, El Gun stepped onto the stage as a complete unknown and exited a crowd favorite leading him to not only win the competition but go onto perform at a number of large events all over Southern California. With a ever building buzz El Gun has established himself over the past two years with not only guest appearances on other well known Southern California artist’s projects but also with his highly sought out live shows which has seen him performing for crowds that numbered in the thousands. Now with the release of his debut solo album El Gun is preparing to not only give his fans what they have so desperately been awaiting but also to prove to the entertainment industry that at times crossing the line is the only way to truly achieve worldwide success.

“Some people are habitual line steppers, I’m one of these and will continue to step over the lines of success until I have influenced the world positively through my music.” -El Gun Legro
