The Elimotion Project is the newest brainchild of New York master drummer/conceptualist Ron Thaler, guitarist extraordinaire Elijah Steele, electric bass phenomenon Matt Garrison, and turntablist-magician DJ Logic.
The new album, ELIMOTION 1 , captures the vibrant eclectic sounds coming from New York’s downtown music scene, fusing modern interpretations of jazz with the explosiveness of rock and the funky urban underground edge that marks and jabs like a fiery boxer.
Recorded live in early 2005 in Manhattan Center Studios in one three-hour session, the music is a testament to true improvisation, a function of four of the world’s most renown and in-demand instrumentalists creating music and a vibe that can only be described as “intense, unrelenting, moody, sexy, funky, “take no prisoners” electric jazz fusion .
Even though Matt, Logic, Elijah and Ron all come from very different backgrounds, their sonic palettes and musical acuity blend so well, it is sometimes hard to distinguish which musician is playing what at what time. Each piece offers the possibility for each one to showcase their talents, improvise, interject sound effects, and create a forward momentum that is unmistakable and focused.
