Biography

I am a part-time singer/songwriter from Anderson, IN, now living in Fort Mill, SC. I am 34 years old, and have written and sung both inside and outside church since I was a teenager. My influences are pretty wide-ranging and include the Beatles, ELO/Jeff Lynne, Stevie Wonder, Van Morrison, the Beach Boys, Billy Joel, Elton John, and Keith Green. I have been a church worship leader, and have written several worship songs, in addition to more non-church fare.

Patch Me Up

Written By: Eli Renner

Early in the morning
Can't shut out the voices in my head
A storm without a warning
Has left me barely breathing in my bed
If there's ever been a broken man,
You're looking at one now

Patch me up, like you said
Mend my heart, heal my head
Clear my eyes, set me free
I believe you love me
If you won't take this cup,
Patch me up

It's taken half a lifetime
To realize I'm nothing without you
And see myself through your eyes
Amazing me as you make all things new
If this broken picture's worth a thousand words, keep writing me

Patch me up, like you said
Mend my heart, heal my head
Clear my eyes, set me free
I believe you love me
If you won't take this cup,

Patch me up, like you said
Mend my heart, heal my head
Clear my eyes, set me free
I believe you love me
If you won't take this cup,
I'm OK with this cup
But patch me up

The Garden

Written By: Eli Renner

This year we've seen our share of rain
May not be a record, but it's soggy just the same
And I worry 'bout the flowers
Being washed out by the showers
'Cause when the rain comes down it starts to drown the tender blooms of spring

Sometimes I sit and hang my head
Trying to undo and say the tings I've done and said
And the crying gets me wetter
But it also gets me better
And when the sun comes out there is no doubt
The joy was worth the pain

The garden still grows
The garden still grows
Though there were days I thought the sun would never show
And the hurt still hurts as everybody knows
But life carries on
The garden still grows

Next year will be a better one
Couldn't be much worse than the place we've just come from
But they're growing now in beauty
And the Lord's been talking to me
Saying they'll be fine with love and time
The flowers will remain

The garden still grows...

Wait for the sunshine...

You Could Be Here

Written By: Eli Renner

It's never been so quiet round this house
The rooms were filled with laughter
But they're nothing like that now
And I'll admit sometimes I call your name to break the silence
And cry myself to sleep at night
To dream there'll come a day that

You could be here when I call
Just like days gone by
You could be the one I turn to
When I start to cry
Everytime the lonely starts to hurt
I have to tell myself it could be worse...
You could be here

Being by myself ain't always lonesome
It took a while to learn that I could laugh at my own jokes
And losing you scared me to death until it really happened
I gave you everything I had
You chose to walk away, but

You could be here...
