"Discoveries of 2006"

"The EP only has six songs, but already it's clear that this unsigned New York band has the goods — especially for fans of Aimee Mann." - WFUV City Folk Morning

"The self-assured Elizabeth"

"The self-assured Elizabeth and the Catapult prove what a sultry-voiced Greenwich Village habitue with a Norah Jones jones should do: Just let it flow" - The Boston Globe

"The jazzy/funky voice of Elizabeth"

"The jazzy/funky voice of Elizabeth and the Catapult's Elizabeth Ziman caught my ear immediately, their "Waiting for the Kill" is one of the discs standouts." - Pop Matters

"Villiage Voice"

"Elizabeth & the Catapult have managed to hurl themselves pretty far through word-of-mouth buzz. The unsigned local trio, led by vocalist Elizabeth Ziman and her Aimee Mann–like drawl, has built a loyal local fanbase via jazzy, buoyant pop songs; they're now making frequent appearances on NPR's Studio 360. Check out jaunty earworm "Momma's Boy," off their self-titled EP—these three won't be flying under the radar for long." - Villiage Voice

"Momma's Boy Single Review "

Indie singer/songwriter Elizabeth Ziman and her band the Catapult—a featured Billboard Underground act—serves up a jazzy bluegrass-colored incantation via playful "Momma's Boy," in which she coaches, "If you want a girl to be your mother/Go find another one," alongside an acoustic rat-a-tat beat, retro keyboards and rapid-fire vocal. Triple-A is an ideal launching pad for the song's rootsy patina, though adult top 40 could also have a fine time crowning Ziman as a new queen. "Momma's Boy" is a weighty title that will prompt savvy listeners to look for more from this budding act, while rewarding outlets that indulge Ziman by breaking type. —Chuck Taylor

Bio

Elizabeth wrote her first song at age six, banging out melodies on an old upright in a Greenwhich Village laundry room. A born romantic, Elizabeth transformed the music of Debussy, molding it to the driving rhythms of the washer and dryer. With Debussy and Bach on her left and the Beatles just to her right, Elizabeth quickly developed a sound all her own. Her Baroque pop songs have frequently been compared to those of Rufus Wainright, Fiona Apple and Laura Nyro.

Elizabeth has performed extensively with her band, The Catapult, in New York City, Los Angeles and Boston (The Knitting Factory, The Living Room, Hotel Cafe, Rockwood Music Hall, The Cutting Room, The Middle East, Joes Pub)
