Ella Jet is an always evolving Neo-Soul soundtrack by 20 yr old singer-songwriter Ella Jet Vessenmeyer combining elements of jazz, soul and rock n roll.

Biography

Ella Jet wants to bring out your most human inner emotions all through her music. Through heartbreak and a strong passion for life, her cosmic songs are born. Constantly pushing the limits of progressive Neo-Soul the music's overall theme of love will leave you recharged, enlightened and connected to your higher self.

Ella Jet has been a fixture on Tampa Bay’s music scene ever since she was 12 years old. In 2014 at just 16, she was selected into the prestigious Grammy Museum's Music Revolution Project and her live reputation grew quickly with openings slots for We The Kings, Emily Kinney, In The Valley Below and Never Shout Never.

Then two years later she began to experiment with a new sound and began to form her own band called appropriately FUTURE SOUL. The new sound combines 1970’s soul ala Stevie Wonder, progressive jam band instrumentation and eclectic rock in the vein of Steely Dan all mixed into a melting pot of soul fusion. The band doesn’t sound like anyone else on the music scene and their live performances have matured into crowd-pleasing show stoppers. Dillon Reeder a music veteran drummer handles the soulful backbeat, Zach West on keyboards provides sweet melodies on the keys, Levi Foe delivers deep funky basslines and newcomer Cameron Dorsey rocks with sustain and distortion on the lead guitar. Ella Jet hangs tough in the center of it all on electric rhythm guitar and sings her dreamy songs with the voice of a songbird. Since forming, they have been performing non-stop with slots at Gasparilla Music festival and direct support for legendary acts such as Alessia Cara, Warren Hayes’ last waltz tour, and Norah Jones and Jackson Browne.

Ella Jet’s debut ep "Black Wave Diary" was just released in Sept 2018. The songs reflect heavy lyrical subject matter: songs about teenage pain, addiction, abandonment, divorce and family dysfunction with powerful intense soulful grooves underneath. Like the music of John Lennon, the music is raw and very personal, fragile yet intense. Let Ella Jet take you on a trip high in the clouds floating inside a dream. It’s out of this world

Lyrics

SUNFLOWER

Written By: Ella Jet Vessenmeyer

You tell me not to be in the middle, well
Unfortunately, it’s just not that simple
It ain’t as easy as a rhyme
I’m just tryin’ to find some peace of mind
Wish I could clean up all this grime that you put me through

I was a stunted sunflower in a fucked up situation
Hangin’ horizontal tryin’ to catch what was left of the rising sun
Oh you tell me not to be in the middle, well
Unfortunately it’s just not that simple
Ain’t as easy as a rhyme
I’m just tryin’ to find some peace of mind
Wish I could clean up all this grime that you put me through

Welcome to my house the war zone
Shaky hands and no muscle
As your screaming through the bedroom wall
Did you not think I would notice at all
Did u think I was sleeping
And now I can hardly see that sweet little girl I was destined to be
Cause when there’s so much pain in the heart it doesn’t seem real (x2)

Pictures of smiling people
It’s unconceivable that we come from the same family tree
Oh, you tell me not to be in the middle, well
Unfortunately, it’s just not that simple
It ain’t as easy as a rhyme
I’m just tryin’ to find some peace of mind
Wish I could clean up all this grime that you put me through
I heard you screaming through the bedroom wall
Did you not think I would notice at all
Did u think I was sleeping
And now I can hardly see that sweet little girl I was destined to be
Cause when there’s so much pain in the heart it doesn’t seem real (x4)

SWEET AS SANITY

Written By: Ella Jet Vessenmeyer

Running from myself
Got me feelin’ stressed out
Pop a couple of Xanax about to pass out
Just hit the couch and I’m gonna black out
How many did I do again ? think I lost count
Stomachs feelin’ weak I’m about to peak
Pills and powders almost as sweet as sanity

I know we were never good at walking the tightrope
But my friend don’t little pills be your downfall
Shaky hands sweaty palms never looked good on anyone

My soul may wander up in the stars
My sight is clear like Xanax bars
Another pint I think I just might
Oh my sweet, sweet remedy

It’s just sometimes it’s really hard to keep your voice even
When you Mother asks you if you’re sinking

Running from myself
Got me feelin’ stressed out
Pop a couple of Xanax about to pass out
Just hit the couch and I’m gonna black out
How many did I do again ? I think I lost count
Stomachs feelin’ weak I’m about to peak
Pills and powders almost sweet as sanity

I know we were never good at walking the tightrope
But my friend don’t little pills be your downfall
Shaky hands sweaty palms never looked good on anyone
(x2)

DREAMER

Written By: Ella Jet Vessenmeyer

Ten thousand dollars for your son
What does it take to make a living
What does it make to be happy if
It’s not what’s in front of you smiling

Are you dead, are you dead or are
You just sleeping
Are you dead, are you dead
Did you drink too much this evening

I’m a murderer I killed the girl that I used to be
Little white magicians killin’ my condition
And I’m starting to think that
Death is such a beautiful thing

Are you dead, are you dead or are
You just sleeping
Are you dead, are you dead
Did you drink too much this evening

1pill, 2 pill, 3 pill four
pickin’ you up on the bathroom floor
see I , I’ve been dyin’ on the inside so
I’ve been trying to live outside myself

If you love me why did you leave me
Wondering who I’m supposed to be
Why I couldn’t be enough for the one who gave life to me
But if one takes their own life, well who’s actually dying
Yeah maybe not physically, on the inside we’re trying
We’re trying to leave to forget we’re trying not to see the
Things that we cannot believe.
