"Taylor Guitars"

Taylor Guitars had this to say about her album "Sunshine From Mars" which she released under the name of Kate Barclay.

Sunshine From Mars is the debut release from Vermont native .... She wraps her expressive voice and poetic musings languidly around twelve folk-pop tracks, matching the intimacy and passion of Jewel and Tori Amos; and conjuring the sensual soul of Alana Davis and Sarah Mclachlan. (She) calls Sunshine "an album of relationships, including you and yourself, lovers, mother and child, money and friends. . . . Songs of empowerment, freedom, peace and other struggles."

Trey Anastasio (Phish) and Tony Markellis also make guest appearances on Taylor guitar and bass respectively. Like a tasteful wardrobe, Chuck Eller's production elegantly complements (her) vocal "figure", preserving the starkness of her voice at times, and supporting it in other places with piano, saxophone, cello and banjo.

"Sunshine From Mars"

There are influences other than folk and pop to be discerned in (the) music, be it the jazz shadings on Fire In The Hole, or the blues at the base of How About You And Me. The anti-handgun song Stop The Violence has all of the ingredients of a hippy anthem, including the obligatory congas. And guesting on this track is Trey Anastasio from Phish, the legitimate successors of the Grateful Dead. - Folk and Acoustic Music Exchange
