". . . leftfield pop acts taking the music scene by storm!"

Now is a fertile time for new music, as these up-and-coming acts demonstrate

[...] More exuberant is Elle Exxe, a Scottish solo performer with a brash personality backed by guitars as well as electroclash synths. She is due to release her first album, the bolshie Love Fuelled Hate, on her own LX label, led by the single “Lately” with its memorable gender-curious video. Elle has also been building support through traditional gigging, though is now setting her stall out with a London residency Exxtravaganza that opened this month. - The Independant

"Elle Exxe’s fierce new music video"

The kick-ass, electro clash starlet is back with her amazing new video for Lately.

We’ve always been a fan of Elle Exxe, so when she showed us her new video featuring a fierce drag queen giving her some performance tips we couldn’t possibly not share it with the rest of you.

Elle told GT that the video was just another day in the life of a female musician: “The things I overhear and am told about how I should be as a female recording artist in the pop industry are hilarious. I’m told to be sexy but not too sexy. I’ll be critiqued for wearing too little and then for being too masculine when I cover up. Too fat, too skinny; lose weight but not your curves – how?!

“All this stuff is nonsense – everyone seems to have an opinion of what a 21st-century female should look like and how they should act; this video was my way of poking fun at that. XL [Robin Boot], the overtly sexual and controlling pop-star trainer represents all those crazy things I’m being told, and just like in real life I have a good laugh about it, move on and do my own thing. It was an amazing shoot and I’d like to say a special thank you to Colin Smith and Michael Hobdell for making this possible. ”

Elle is playing The Great Escape Festival on Friday and she’s sure to blow everyone’s socks off. - GAY TIMES

"ELLE EXXE "I always wanted to be an artist with guts""

In classic Disorder fashion, we were running late on the day of our shoot with Elle, which, with the tube strikes, made it seem like everything that was going to go wrong, did. However, like the soldiers we are, we made it, though a little bruised and battered.

I had been notified Elle was already in the studio so the minute I entered the room my eyes scanned for her. A tiny, beaming figure flashed a giant smile at me—found her! As I went to introduce myself, Elle’s Scottish accent hit me. A mist of confusion descended, as from the two singles I’d heard online I never once contemplated whether or not Elle is a fellow Brit.

Later in the day, as I confessed my confusion, she clarified: Scottish born, London raised and in love with LA. Elle left home for London at 16 to pursue her dream of becoming a singer; she jokes about living in YMCA and meeting some of the most creative people she has ever come across. This decision was not easy on her parents though as they laid down strict conditions before her departure: either get a job or enter higher education.

"Case of the Exxe"

‘Lie To Me’ popped up at the start of the year, and now she has a new single knocking around. ‘Lost In LA’ is its title and it is what is known in the trade as ‘a bit of a romp’.

Accordingly she has made a video that features balloons, assorted nonsense and a Paralympian medalist.

Elle’s currently in the ‘promising work-in-progress’ bracket: there’s a lot to like about her music, her style and her general popstar everythingness, along with some pleasing rough edges that may or may not be bashed into shape over the coming months and years. Whether she’s the next Charli XCX remains to be seen but she’s already got two Xs in her name so surely that’s half the battle. - Pop Justice

"'Lie To Me" Single Premier"

London's Elle Exxe is an exciting pop prospect, and she's just dropped new tune "Lie To Me", exclusively on Best Fit.

It's a bolshy pop belter with one toe in electroclash and another in swaggering neo-soul. There's gallons of confidence in her vocals as she sings of love gone awry, and she swans into our lives with this track as if she's been here for years. Replete with jerky synth stabs, calamitous basslines and beats that tumble, "Lie To Me" is a huge song that's ready for dancefloors, and one that won't wait to be to be given permission to enter your lives, but rather storm in and force you to move. - The Line Of Best Fit

"Track Of The Day 17/3 - Elle Exxe"

Elle Exxe arrives with no small dose of ambition and glamour.

A furiously talented synth pop upstart, the singer heaps a tonne of attitude onto her sugar sweet choruses.

New single 'Lie To Me' is as barbed an address as you'll find, with Elle Exxe delivering each line with a growl.

Out on March 23rd, the singer will play a special launch party at North London venue the Islington on April 2nd.

Clash is able to premiere the accompanying video, which features Elle Exxe careering around the screen in a souped up car.

A little like the female equivalent of Ryan Gosling's character in Drive, it's a highly stylised, eye opening clip. - Clash Magazine

"It's Time To Start Noticing Elle Exxe"

Elle Exxe is a name that has been popping up over the internet circa for a while now… Popjustice has already noted her and now it’s time for Subba-Cultcha to do so.

We caught up with her before her “Lost In L.A.” single launch at The Social and we managed to discover that the artist is showing an image of contrast, she was dressed in a fabulous black and white striped attire with a royal blue jacket (a vintage piece owned by her mother). The song is a “big bashing song about a good time had in L.A.”, recorded and set in L.A. itself. What is more… there is an EP coming and it delves on the theme of love and hate.

The opening acts Baby Queens were a surprisingly wonderful R&B/Soul group whose harmonies, trills and blends were killer and gave a wonderful thirty minute set. Enjoyable for the casual listener and ones to look out for. A personal highlight was “Red Light” and forthcoming release “Down By The River”.

Elle soon made her way through the crowd and gave an electrifying set. Her energy on stage was not matched and whilst it was a packed out smaller venue, it made no difference for Elle. Her backing musicians had painted white faces and white bomber jackets and gave a great spectacle. She straddled her way through her set list without a blink or moment of slowing down. She had a fair few folks in the audience that knew beyond the previous single “Lie To Me” and current single “Lost In L.A.” (whose live version got a wonderfully bizarre mash-up with another song).

As the audience sang along with Elle, she left through the crowd in a very dramatic fashion, leaving the crowd foaming for more. She did soon return to the stage to perform another track and it really showed the impression that Elle will have on a larger audience as more music is released. One of the personal highlights for the crowd was the track “Dirty Beat”. It was an upbeat number that had the crowd shaking and dancing wildly throughout.

Elle Exxe is going to be a force to be reckoned with. “Elle” referring to the French pronoun indicating “she”. The surname “Exxe” refers to a variety of things… cleverly the double X is a nod to the Scottish flag, and as Elle is Scottish, it’s a lovely little nod. Think Courtney Love meets Debbie Harry… actually, no… think Elle Exxe. - Subba Cultcha

"Elle Exxe Reveals 'Lie To Me' Video"

Elle Exxe has revealed the eye-popping video for her debut single ‘Lie To Me’, due for release on March 23rd. Screeching out of the blocks in a video of late-night colour and road-rage drama, ‘Lie To Me’ sees Elle Exxe leather-clad and behind the wheel as she muscles her way through this huge pop belter, coming on like a female Ryan Gosling in Drive.

Working the haughty grandeur of Madonna, the electro-pop of Lady Gaga and the street-wise charm of Chari XCX, Elle Exxe bridges the gap between bright pop sparkle and sneering rock swagger. She arrives kicking and screaming with an upbeat groove that blasts standard pop out of the water with a dark, funky and colourful alternative. A super-hot star with a striking sound and glamorous unpredictability, Elle Exxe is about to make the pop landscape of 2015 into a very exciting place to be.

Taking pop norms by the horns and getting them drunk on super sexy sass and attitude, ‘Lie To Me’ is only the first spark in Elle Exxe’s arsenal, but one that’s strong enough to start a fire. Elle Exxe will be celebrating the release of ‘Lie To Me’ with her headline single launch show at The Islington, London on April 2nd.

"Elle Exxe - 'Lie To Me' Review"

If extra dirty grunge pop is your thing, you’ll dig London’s Elle Exxe. Her new single Lie To Me is a sassy, noisy wall of cacophonous beats and sugary melody, like a Sleigh Bells meets Charli XCX party in your ears. Top it off with some of the fierceness of a rock group like Nico Vega and plenty of dance pop energy, and we have a ferocious jam. Lie To Me is Elle’s riotous debut single, out March 23rd. - I Heart Moosiq

"Ruffled Feather Music: PC Music & More In This Month's Panpopticon"

...if you're hungry for some feisty-lady-in-car action in the meantime, then look no further than Elle Exxe who's debut single 'Lie to Me' released back in March, has her burning through the night, looking like Kelis' baby sister and wreaking a similar brand of noisy havoc.

Elle Exxe is gradually emerging from the pop underground, brandishing a forceful voice from a snarled lip. Hers is a grubbier, more soulful sound that smacks head on with Numan-esque electro to delicious effect. Her follow up single 'Lost In LA' - due for release on June 22nd but getting its PREMIERE here in the Panpopticon – blasts through guitar distortion, trash can drums and a blank/cool Waitresses-esque vocal, still managing to retain a pure pop spirit that rises to the surface on the anthemic whoops and hollers of the chorus.

Pop is great when its feathers are ruffled, either by dirt or drama or darkness, and Elle Exxe is one to watch. - The Quietus

"ELLE EXXE APRESENTA O SEU ELETRO-SOUL DANÇANTE EM ‘LIE TO ME’"

- Pick Up The Headphones

"Elle Exxe Music Feature"

Elle Exxe, or as she was previously known Harrison, is a singer/designer. She’s made her mark on YouTube and since the name change, her success has continued. Playing Music Cube last October, her first headline show of this year last month and the next, releasing her latest single Lie To Me; she’s also supported Professor Green, Jess Glynn and MNEK.

Her sound is poppy, electronic and honest. Imagine viewing pop art on acid and that’s the kind of electronic feel that Elle Exxe gives off. Its hella bright but bold, refreshing and somewhat seductive. - 1883 (Magazine)

"Elle Exxe unveils debut single ‘Lie To Me’"

She arrives kicking and screaming with an upbeat groove that blasts standard pop out of the water with a dark, funky and colourful alternative. A super hot star with a striking sound and glamorous unpredictability, Elle Exxe is about to make the pop landscape of 2015 into a very exciting place to be.

Working the striking grandeur of Madonna and Lady Gaga with the knowing goodtime charm of Chari XCX, Elle Exxe bridges the gap between bright pop sparkle and gnarled rock swagger. The result is explosive and takes off just as quickly as the early stages of her career, which have already seen her play in support of Professor Green, MNEK and Jess Glynn.

Elle Exxe has proven she can hold her own against the big boys, in a stage show that’s as immense and as strong as her sound. She will be playing her first show of 2015 with a headline performance at London’s super cool 229 Club on February 26th.

"ELLE EXXE - SINGLE REVIEW"

You know when a new pop singer comes along and you hear their big debut single and you know how the chorus is going to sound, lyrics and all, before you get to the second line of the first verse? Well that's not Elle Exxe. No, the hype around this Scottish pop pretender is entirely justified on the basis of this edgy, unpredictable and soulful single. 'Lie To Me' takes the attitude of Neneh Cherry and Shampoo and blends it with a soulful, electro infused tune that gets your joints jerking and your head popping. Before you know it, you're wondering how much Madonna or Lady Gaga would sacrifice to get their hands on a tune like this or to have as much vibrancy and energy as Elle Exxe. A strong start, stronger than any other pop debutants on the market right now. - Listen With Monger

"Give It a Listen: Elle Exxe"

A fresh face in the industry being likened to Madonna, Lady Gaga and Charli XCX is always a good sign that they are at least worth a listen. And Elle Exxe’s first single ‘Lie to Me’ definitely is. Bold and infectious, ‘Lie to Me’ has all the makings of a pop hit with a rock edge.

The song itself is about a relationship that has fallen apart because of lies. Over a mixture of electronic elements, electric guitar riffs and hand claps, she loudly proclaims her ex to be persona non-grata with lyrics like,

‘I should be flattered/By your absent chatter/Baby, words don’t matter/No, you don’t matter to me’

This aggressive alternative pop single will be a big hit when it drops in March. If you are a fan of Icona Pop or P!nk, then you will find it almost impossible not to add this song to your collection. - Vada Magazine

Bio

Feisty, fabulous electro-clash heroine Elle Exxe unleashes her much-anticipated debut album Love Fuelled Hate this year, mixed by Joe Kearns (Ellie Goulding, One Direction) and mastered by John Davis (Lana Del Rey). It sees Elle blossom into a major pop contender after the fast-rising starlet turned heads with her kicking-and-screaming 2015 debut EP Love To Hate You, which was a riotous explosion of her fearsomely unique attitude and striking pop-shock style. On Love Fuelled Hate she’s now spread her wings into a formidable and fully fledged pop star, flipping the genre on it’s head.

She has been championed by BBC Introducing and Kiss FM, flown high in Music Week Charts (#8 September 2015) and Amazing Radio charts (#1 July 2015 Audition Chart) and received glowing praise from the likes of The Guardian, Popjustice, The Independent, The Quietus, Gay Times, The Sun and many more besides. In North America radio support has been overwhelming, receiving numerous CMJ distinctions and rotations.

Playing sold out shows across London and her native Edinburgh, Elle has been making her mark on the live circuit on both sides of the Atlantic, playing four shows at Canadian Music Week (receiving support from PRS for Music Foundation) as well as jam-packed shows at The Great Escape (Radio X Stage), Liverpool Sound City (SESAC Stage), Xpo North and a Brits Week Showcase (TOPMAN) part of Brit Awards.
