HANDS OF HARD TIMES

By

Ellen Ehli

Step closer to me all you young hungry children
Can you see that I bleed that you won’t be forgotten
Take care of my love were the words never spoken
Reflect on the waves her soul has been broken

And it falls, falls, and it falls through the hands of hard times

Wake from your slumber don’t stare at the tracks
Step onto the train try to never look back
Take a hold of the hand let not that it linger
Let the rain wash away all the dust of your anger

And it falls, falls, and it falls through the hands of hard times
And it falls, falls, and it falls through the hands of hard times

Look all around can you see where we’ve landed
We’re clutching at truth though we look empty handed
Forgive me to one who I saw but not seen
The sins of our past have become just ones dream

And it falls, falls, and it falls through the hands of hard times
And it falls, falls, and it falls through the hands of hard times
Through the hands of hard times
Through the hands of hard times

Masquerade

Masquerade by Ellen Ehli
Mary came home to a broken down man

his hands in a fist with his head in the sand

his sins will not take him where he needs to go

so he crawled out of his life and he left her his soul, yeah, yeah, yeah….yeah, yeah, yeah

A man works away the day to live life on his own

lost a long time ago were his family and home

he waits from day to day for them to return

carries with him a flame which continues to burn, yeah, yeah, yeah….yeah, yeah, yeah

why is it lives we lead theres someone else to blame

how can we justify putting other lives to shame

please leave the masquerade and see the world around

So you will understand what it means to be down, truly down

A baby cries she has nothing more to eat

Mama isn’t capable of surving on the street

Oh it’s cold searching for a place to shelter

Can’t we look beyond ourselves to reach out and help her, yeah, yeah, yeah…yeah, yeah, yeah

Sitting across from her he wished that he heard wrong

Through welled up eyes she asked please be strong

The doctors say theres little they can do

Hold me close and I will always be with you, yeah, yeah, yeah…yeah, yeah, yeah

why is it lives we lead theres someone else to blame

how can we justify putting other lives to shame

please leave the masquerade and see the world around

So you will understand what it means to be down, truly down

Truly down, down, down, down, truly down.

1st Capo

Verse 1.

Sometimes I lie away, thinking bout all of my mistakes

Baby I never said I was fair

And if there’s a sky above, won’t you bring to me all your love

You have my word cause you know I care

Chorus:

Baby let me try again, I could never just accept the end and

I won’t cry if you say goodbye

Baby let me try again, this love I on the verge of mend and

I won’t cry if you say goodbye

Verse 2.

They say that time heals all

All things are moving but the clock on my wall

It seems to be stuck at 3 am

Tomorrow I will be just fine,

The path I walk has always been a thin line

The road has turned and I can see the end

Chorus.

Sometimes I lie away, thinking bout all of my mistakes

Baby I never said I was fair
