Ellen McKinney's original "blues-infused folk-pop" has capitvated audiences throughout Canada, the US and Central America. Her clever lyrics explore the many forms of love through a telescope of hope and wit. At only 5'2" tall, new fans often marvel at the power of her pipes!

Raised by her jazz musician father in Saint John, New Brunswick, Ellen McKinney started singing as soon as she could speak. After 12 years of training in classical and jazz piano, she headed to Montreal to study opera at the prestigious McGill Univeristy School of Music. More into denim and guitars than divas and drama, Ellen packed her bags and moved to Toronto to pursue acting and songwriting.

As an actress, Ellen has starred in several TV series for networks including The Comedy Network, CBC, Food Network, UKTV and BBC Canada. Ellen has written original music for the the Canadian/British TV series "Fresh and Wild" and composed scores for theatrical producions in Montreal. Ellen was a featured vocalist in the original cast recording of "Somewhere in the World" produced by The Charlottetown Festival.

Eager to write pop music that is as catchy as it is innovative, Ellen's style is distinctive. Her wide influences range from Mozart to Motown resulting in an original sound that has been described as a musical mosiac.
