Ellen Winters

Ellen Winters

 Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA

A blend of classic jazz/pop with a refreshing, modern twist. The Ellen Winters Group pays tribute to the tradition of Jazz while infusing threads of R&B, soul, pop, and rock to create memorable, exciting, crowd pleasing performances every time.

"Ellen Winters is a rare find. Charming and intelligent in her delivery, she brings fresh energy to jazz singing at a time when there is very little originality left. Her voice is reminiscent of Janis Siegel in the 1980’s, full of spark and witticisms, but in Ellen’s case, a bit more refined and daring." -- Phil Schroeder, producer/owner Green Street Music, Boston, MA

An award-winning jazz vocalist, Ellen is devoted to keeping her music fresh while still paying tribute to the great jazz artists of the past. A student of trad-jazz, Ellen studied with some of the best vocal jazz educators/arrangers in the country. Ellen's second CD, Secret of Life, is a unique blend of popular and original tunes re-arranged to fit the jazz idiom.

"Beautifully done and so sweetly sung!" -- Peter Eldridge, singer/songwriter & member of the Grammy award winning group New York Voices

As a soloist, Ellen has performed jazz and cabaret all over the country. She has been featured at wonderful venues like Danny's Skylight Cabaret and Rose's Turn in New York City and the Third Ward Summer Sizzle, Jazz in the Park, Bastille Days and Summerfest stages in Milwaukee. Her current project, "The Girl Singer: A Tribute To Rosemary Clooney," has received rave reviews from sold out crowds in both Wisconsin and Ohio.

” Ellen Winters, arguably Milwaukee’s best jazz singer, recreated the Rosemary Clooney voice and era beautifully.“ — Mike Drew, Music Critic & former journalist with The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

Ellen continues to be sought after as a jazz and cabaret artist while working as a clinician, adjudicator, and arranger. Ellen is also on staff as Adjunct Voice Faculty at Columbia College in Chicago. Both of Ellen's CD's are available on CD Baby, as well as Ellen's live performances. .

The Dom

Written By: Lewandowski/Winters

Moonlight comes, to chase away the sun
Starlight breaks, the desert bloom awakes
And I am lying safe in your arms
And I am caught up in your charms
And then the Earth quakes, my heart aches
To be with you tonight, and we're chillin' the Dom

Through the rain, I still can hear your name
The sun shines through, and all I see is you
And all the loving that you bring
Just makes my heart and soul want to sing
About your sweet smile, come stay awhile
Be with me tonight, and we're chillin' the Dom
