"Best of Milwaukee Award 2004"

If you've heard jazz vocalist Ellen Winters sing, you know she brims with enthusiasm and charm. Winters is talented enough to have performed at the Montreux and North Sea jazz festivals while still in college. Her original cabaret show, "Harmony," was given rave reviews when it debuted in NYC a couple of years ago. Perhaps you caught her with Swing Nouveau at one of their frequent gigs in town. Or maybe it was with the Paul Spencer Band at Caroline's Jazz Club. Regardless of the venue, you know Winters brings a fresh interpretation to jazz standards each time she sings."--Jim Adashek, Shepherd Express - Shepherd Express

"Ellen Winters review"

“Ellen Winters is a rare find. Charming and intelligent in her delivery, she brings fresh energy to jazz singing at a time when there is very little originality left. Her voice is reminiscent of Janis Siegel in the 1980’s, full of spark and witticisms, but in Ellen’s case, a bit more refined and daring." --Phil Schroeder, producer/owner Green Street Music, San Francisco - Pure Imagination liner notes

"OnMilwaukee review"

"She could be rubbing some funk on "My Funny Valentine" or adding some zip to an Alan and Marilyn Bergman tune, but Winters handles the 11 standards, including one she penned herself, on the album with maturity and proficiency." --Jason Keil, OnMilwaukee.com - OnMilwaukee.com

"M Magazine"

Best Show: "When Jazz vocalist Ellen Winters (first) came to town, she used to join Paul Spencer's weekly jam sessions (at Caroline's.) And another career was launched there." -- Kathy Lanser, as part of an article in the September 2007 issue - Conley Media

"Best of Milwaukee 2006"

A fixture at Milwaukee’s summer outdoor festivals, Ellen Winters has swept this category for three years in a row, and with good reason. Her refined voice, with its clean tones and expressive nuances, breathes new life into most every traditional song. Just as exciting as the covers are the songs she pens herself, heartfelt opuses crafted in the spirit of the classics but filtered through the lens of a strong, thoroughly modern woman. --Evan Rytlewski, Shepherd Express - Shepherd Express

She has been featured at wonderful venues like Danny's Skylight Cabaret and Rose's Turn in New York City and the Third Ward Summer Sizzle, Jazz in the Park, Bastille Days and Summerfest stages in Milwaukee. Her current project, "The Girl Singer: A Tribute To Rosemary Clooney," has received rave reviews from sold out crowds in both Wisconsin and Ohio.

” Ellen Winters, arguably Milwaukee’s best jazz singer, recreated the Rosemary Clooney voice and era beautifully.“ — Mike Drew, Music Critic & former journalist with The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

Ellen continues to be sought after as a jazz and cabaret artist while working as a clinician, adjudicator, and arranger. Ellen is also on staff as Adjunct Voice Faculty at Columbia College in Chicago. Both of Ellen's CD's are available on CD Baby, as well as Ellen's live performances. .
