Bio
I have a fair few influences who have inspired my songwriting and the melodies of my songs. Johnny Cash's stripped down latter years; Noel Gallagher of Oasis' acoustic moments; Morrissey's bitter-sweet lyrics; Nick Drake, Ray Davies, The Beatles (naturally) I'm not for one second saying I'm near these guys in terms of ability, but they have inspired me to write and play and will continue to do so.
I wrote my first song aged 16 (naturally for that age about a girl) and have been writing steadily ever since, having performed some gigs at acoustic evenings whilst at University. I am currently a five-time semi finalist in the UK Songwriting Contest. I think it was Ray Davies that said the key to a good songwriter is for the most part to have the ability to have a thin line of humour in your songs. Noel Gallagher has said the best songs often involve melancholy lyrics to upbeat music, and it's these things that I keep these things in mind when I write.
