"Taste Test: Elodie Rêverie chases down her very own ‘Gold Rush’"

Welcome to Taste Test, a song/video review series of SubmitHub-only gemstones

There comes a time in life when you’ve got a choice to make: you can either stale in your stagnation or bound out of a hopeless life and chase the setting sun. Calling to the California Gold Rush of the 1800s, alt-pop arrival Elodie Rêverie tunes her heart into the latter, a decision that has not only tested her mettle but gifted an arsenal of determination and keen self-awareness. Her suitably-titled new song “Gold Rush,” filtered through a vibrating prism of trip-hop, synths and piano, entrances and emanates an addictive fluorescence. “The gold was buried inside of us,” she sings, as much as her own discovery as an urgent prayer to the listener. The classically-trained musician turns the landmark historical event into a journey of dreams and making the distinct choice to live the only life worth living: one of pure passion. And we all should heed her sage advice.

“Gold Rush” is just the beginning of her adventures in 2019. - Bsides Badlands

"Table Tennis Dreamer // Lone Wild // SAVEN // Frydstads Markiser // Elodie Rêverie"

Table Tennis Dreamer – We Will Understand

TABLE TENNIS DREAMER stated: “I spent last summer writing and traveling, demoing ideas from a studio setup in my van. This is the first release from those sessions, dealing with themes of personal change and growth.” A kind of warmth exudes through the vibrations of his chords, in ‘We Will Understand’. Not quite apples to apples, but it is a combination of Boy George’s and David Byrne’s empathy that comes through in this single. A slight of hand, and a caressing touch on your cheek. Delicate. Welcoming. Exciting. All-absorbing. It is that gaze in which she looks at you. It is his in-depth hug that gives confidence for the future. John Waldo Wittenmyer is the mind behind the story, and the accomplished producer derives from the ethers, putting the feelings onto clean slates for all of us to ponder. His journey continues. Currently he’s on an east coast tour.

Lone Wild – Why Do I Hide?

The indie alternative band LONE WILD comes back with another banger, as they kick the anthem out of you. You bleed with joy, and exhume the weathered sartorialist in you and show what you always wanted. Don’t hide. Don’t be what you’re not. Be what you want. The undeniable tragedy that is called life gets in the way. Relationships of regret mount and mount. With fat bass to hold, the classic arrangements of the updated modern prog-rock-esque reverence keeps this single at the bay of your mind and heart. The vibe and shimmer continues as the guitar bridge, makes its stadium sized amazement towards the sky. The clouds part, as the jam of how it should be continues to reveal itself in ‘Why Do I Hide?’.

SAVEN – I Love The Attention

Cheeky lyrics of SAVEN is a delightful indie-rock vision into what social commentary could be. A gentle slap in the face, the single is a charming ride down that river of dance and tort grievances, relative and profound. It’s about human beings and human pack behavior, ain’t it? “The lyrics critique the self-oriented values that most media channels currently glorify, while simultaneously admitting to the guilty pleasure that the attention gives. Hypocrite? You decide.” We sure did. ‘I Love The Attention’ is the beat driven, chant encouraging, surf-rock pop offering that is endearing and evocative to the alternate side in all of us. Philip Savén is the driver of this project, and from this single we can safely assume he’s ready to tackle the world. No subject is out of bounds and he intends to keep it that way.

Frydstads Markiser – Skinny Kids

Story telling is what FRYDSTADS MARKISER is all about. Fiction, based-on, never-mind for Jørgen Frydstad is what you desired to be, if you wanted to scroll through the options for your upcoming future. The sun, shines as ‘Skinny Kids’ drives up your drive way for a day filled with fun and adventure. A ‘richy rich’ adventure, for ‘Skinny Kids’ is “..about the mindset of rich and powerful man” according to Jørgen. And we dig it to bits. The jangly effervescence communicate the ‘nonchalant’ hesitance of the protagonist. But at the same time the protagonist doesn’t mind how his life has ended up. You see, if you’re deeply entrenched within a certain lifestyle, you get used to it. And as programmed and nurtured as we all are, it’s hard to disagree with how we all can succumb to the vices. Blameless? No one’s blameless, but it’s about the ‘degree’ of being guilt-ridden, ain’t it? Heck, what are we talking about! Just enjoy this fabulous single from this one man band of bejeweled lyrics by FRYDSTADS MARKISER. It is a fabulous project, and we can’t wait to hear more of FM’s evolution.

Elodie Rêverie – GoldRush

Inspired by the gold rush boom of the mid-1800’s in California, ‘GoldRush’ beckons the question of ‘what if’. ‘What if’ you were chasing ‘dreams’? Will that ‘gold’ be enough of a motivator for you? Are you chasing after the right passion? Are you being ‘true’ to yourself? Hard and introspective group of questions. But artist Elodie Rêverie is all about that hard knocking, brain scrambling, and heart pounding kind of dig into her soul. After all, it is what she’s been chasing after with her music, for the Brooklyn grown musician and advocate for the passionate mindset, she makes ‘fire’ in contrasts by delivering in unique and indicative twists through her lyrics. Once upon a time in her life she learned: “To make fire out there (bow drilling) and it was the catalyst for the realization that there were other ways to release the tension within me I’d been chasing in the wrong ways; for me it was creative expression.” That gold is out there, and along the way you can make your own path made of your own happiness. There is no going back, for it is time to make it happen. “People who chase after something without any guarantee of success…” she said. “Slim chances… That’s what the song is about. In contemporary LA, there’s a bit of that going on in terms of people chasing careers in entertainment. But the song is about more than just that. I use wordplay to talk about the gold buried inside all of us. It’s about finding that metaphorical gold.” Word. - Come Here Floyd

"Elodie Rêverie - GoldRush [Review]"

“The hammer of the keyboard is the heartbeat of this melody, but the vocals are drenched with emotion and not store-bought melodrama, but genuine feelings that permeate every line delivered.” - La on Lock

"Introducing: Elodie Rêverie – Fire in the Desert"

Elodie Rêverie has released back in February her single Fire in the Dessert and it is a masterpiece. I adore the sublime vocals and sweet melodies. Beside, the catchy vibes are surreal, the chorus will stick in your mind for example!

Without any doubt I can say that Fire in the Desert is a proper hit, it has a perfect sound, so make sure to stream it as soon as possible and feel free to sing/dance along! - LeFutureWave

"Elodie Rêverie Releases New Song “Gold Rush”"

Six months ago, Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Elodie Rêverie released her debut song “Gold Rush” via SoundCloud.
The electronic instrumental song garnered over 14K streams.
Following the debut song, she released a new song “Gold Rush” on August 9th. The song features ’60s and ’70s sound unlike the debut song.
She wrote the song during a two week period following an injury in her music studio that left her unable to hear. The song is an exploration of searching for success in Los Angeles and a tribute to '70s music.
When she was in college, she spent six months in the desert near her California home. “The desert is the place where I learned how to make fire with natural materials. It was the most exhilarating thing I’d ever experienced,” she recalled an episode that influenced her music. “[That feeling] is what I’d been chasing for a long time.”

"ELODIE REVERIE COMBINES ETHEREAL VOICE WITH POWERFUL LYRICS ON NEW SINGLE ‘GOLD RUSH’"

Born into a quintessential American family whose forefather was Pan American Airlines founder Juan Trippe, Elodie said she always felt like she lived a life different than most other girls in the world. Her family felt a keen sense of responsibility to uphold the family name. And because of Trippe’s example, many of the men in the family were put on a pedestal. The combination of growing up in a privileged way while longing for an escape became something that was overwhelming, more often than not.

During her years at college, she had the opportunity to participate in the making of a documentary that traced her journey of writing her first song. As the project moved along, she found herself becoming increasingly involved in every aspect of filmmaking, including writing the main song for the story. Though she’d been a classically trained pianist for 21 years, she’d never written an original song. A few months earlier, she’d spent time in the desert east of her home in California as a kind of soul-searching journey. And as she dug into the songwriting moments, she found herself tapping into her experiences in the desert and pulling from all the emotions she’d felt over the years. Out of that, she was able to create something truly original.

“The desert played a big role in my life,” she said. “I was out there for half a year and it was so challenging. I changed a lot as a person. That’s where I decided I was interested in singing, which is something I’d been super scared about before. The desert is the place where I learned how to make fire with natural materials. It was the most exhilarating thing I’d ever experienced. I had this moment where this release I had from making fire is what I’d been chasing for a long time in the wrong sort of way. And I realized there were other ways to achieve this feeling, and for me that’s through creative expression. It was a big turning point for me. It gave me a lot of courage to pursue things professionally. And that’s why I make music now. It totally changed my life.”

Since that experience, Elodie has been working on developing her own unique sound and style. Her amazing voice – which is equal parts ethereal and penetrating – works perfectly with the fusion of genres she creates in the studio. Anything from EDM to pop to house to disco to funk, and more, is her playground. She writes her own lyrics, creates her own beats, plays her own instruments, produces and mixes her own songs – she does it all. And through it all she brings a point of view that’s surprising in its freshness.

Her most recent single is a song called “Gold Rush,” which she said was inspired by the Gold Rush in California in the mid-1800s. That “gold fever” serves as a metaphor for anyone who has uprooted their life to chase a dream.

It’s about finding that metaphorical gold.”

Elodie said she plans to follow up that single with another song called “Pan Am,” which is a direct reference to her family and the traditions she embraces or rejects. It’s also a song that she said is empowering for women, albeit in a subtle way. Eventually, she hopes to put these songs together onto an EP that she plans to drop on June 30, which will be her 27th birthday. She said she’s looking forward to working with engineer Chase McElhaney on the project, and is extremely excited to record the EP at the legendary Fourth Street Studios in Santa Monica – the same place where artists such as Fiona Apple, Incubus and even the Beach Boys have recorded. - Upcoming 100

"Exclusive Premiere: Elodie Rêverie Releases New Single “Gold Rush”"

Elodie Rêverie is a modern flower child jet setting back and forth from Brooklyn to Los Angeles who has just released her latest single titled “Gold Rush”. An ambitiously independent woman that Stevie Nicks would call her own, she elevates the nostalgic vibrance of the ’60s and ’70s and brings her own electronic flow to excite and inspire others.

Elodie Rêverie wrote “Gold Rush” in a two week period where she was unable to hear after an accident in the studio. The playback was set too high and ruptured her eardrum, leaving her unable to be anywhere near the music. In the two week isolation, she was vulnerable and found herself creating an inspirational anthem reminiscent of her 70’s musical heroes.

“Gold Rush” allows the listener to explore their deepest desires, the dreams that keep them up at night. This latest single “Gold Rush” is her ode to her passion project and for taking a leap of faith in herself, where she has put her all in it and not looking back. Elodie’s ethereal voice juxtaposed with the vibrant beats and piano create an unstoppable momentum within.

“Elodie’s amazing voice – which is equal parts ethereal and penetrating – works perfectly with the fusion of genres she creates in the studio. Anything from EDM to pop to house to disco to funk, and more, is her playground.”

Growing up constantly surrounded by music through her jazz enthusiast father, Elodie found herself through the records of the greats: The Rolling Stones, Dusty Springfield and Fleetwood Mac just to name a few. But her introduction to her creation of music was through her film class in college where she had to create a documentary. She always loved singing but had never written a song. The subject of the documentary was her trials and tribulations of writing a song for the first time.
Elodie picked this topic because she thought her failure would create an interesting story arch. However, she found out that she actually has a talent for it. Elodie then decided that she wanted to pursue singing/songwriting as a career and the rest is history. It wasn’t until her college years that she would begin her songwriting endeavors.
Her debut single, “Rêverie” garnered over 14K streams to date on SoundCloud. As a believer of the subjectivism of music – to Elodie, this song is about finding the metaphorical gold inside others and the daunting task of uprooting your life without the guarantee of success. Elodie is hoping that “Gold Rush” can bring out the unconscious aspirations in all of us. Inspired by the mid-1800s California Gold Rush, Elodie saw a parallel of others uprooting their lives without a guarantee of success in her own musical journey. - Celeb Mix

"ELODIE RÊVERIE DEBUTS SINGLE “GOLD RUSH”"

Written during a two week period following an injury in her music studio that left her unable to hear, “Gold Rush” is an exploration of searching for success in Los Angeles and a tribute to singer-songwriter Elodie Reverie‘s 70s music influences. Trained as a pianist, “Gold Rush” and her previous release
On “Gold Rush,” Elodie Reverie examines the important of living a passionate life and living beyond the superficial. “The gold was buried inside of us,” she repeats in the song’s refrain. The track also explores her own fight to succeed and differentiate herself in one of the most competitive environments that exists, the Los Angeles entertainment industry. “Los Angeles bewitches some of us/the ones who need a city big enough for our thoughts,” she sings.
Elodie Reverie comes from a distinguished but non-musical family, and is the descendent of Pan Am founder Juan Trippe. Growing up in this privileged environment influenced Elodie to discover greater autonomy as an adult, pursuing songwriting and documentary filmmaking in her college years, and spending six months in the desert near her California home. “The desert is the place where I learned how to make fire with natural materials. It was the most exhilarating thing I’d ever experienced,” she said in an interview. “[That feeling] is what I’d been chasing for a long time.” - Indie Band Guru

Despite utilising the oppressive perfection of the loop to make her point, Elodie Rêverie then click tracks her words with uncommon fluency into metaphors that provide the real substance for her song “Gold Rush”. Deeper than the night. - Blues Bunny

"Elodie Rêverie Releases the Ultimate Daydream Soundtrack with “Reverie”"

“I was always more liberal arts minded. I wasn’t very into poetry, which is kind of ironic now that I’m a singer and songwriter. I stumbled into singing while doing independent study on documentary filmmaking which was just initially a ploy to improve my overall grade. I had no idea what was waiting for me on the other side, and that it would change my life for the better,” said the artist. As she navigates the world of being an independent artist, she’s completely happy with her progression along the way. In fact, she recently started a female singers club at Soho House in Los Angeles, which is completely amazing all around. As much as she puts into her own career, she wants to do the same for others.

Elodie recently discovered a studio in LA that she completely fell in love with and from that, she’s generated so much material. Specifically, we’re referring to “Reverie”, which means “daydream” in French. “It’s my favorite song to play on the piano. It’s simple and I’m very proud of it. I never intended to make an instrumental but it just poured out of me. I don’t think everything I produce needs to be an opportunity to showcase my vocal and lyrical abilities—sometimes the expression takes on its own form,” said Elodie. Sounds completely beautiful, right?

Next up, Elodie always has a major plan in the works. As we said earlier, she represents strength and provides inspiration for other female artists who are trying to figure out their footing in the industry. Everything Elodie does is so eloquently thought out- from the lyrics to the self-made beats to the way in how she creatively tells a story. Elodie is definitely a force to be reckoned with. - DJ Smoke

"Elodie Rêverie – Gold Rush"

Elodie Reverie has always been a very music person, but it wasn’t until a six-month trip to the desert that she truly found her voice.

"Elodie Rêverie Unveils New Single ‘Fire in the Desert’"

26-year-old Los Angeles and Manhattan-based producer and vocalist Elodie Rêverie has just unveiled her brand new single Fire in the Desert, a groovy piece of electro-pop music that marks her debut as a producer/vocalist and songwriter. This song was inspired by when she left college to live in the desert for half a year when she was 18 where she learned to bowdrill.

I am really enjoying her smooth vocals and how they flow naturally over the electronic production. One of my favourite parts of the song is the infectious guitar strums that give an addictive touch to the track. Fire in the Desert is a great song for indie/electro-pop lovers that enjoy smooth vocals, light synths and groovy guitar riffs.

Influenced by Daft Punk, Dusty Springfield, Chopin, Julie London and Kygo, Elodie started creating music in college because she thought her attempting to write a song would be entertaining to watch but didn't anticipate it would be any good! The Brooklyn native is set to release her debut EP this June. - CaesarLiveNLoud

"Elodie Reverie Combines Ethereal Voice with Powerful Lyrics"

Elodie Rêverie grew up filling her pre-historic Brooklyn Brownstone with Chopin--she became known in her neighborhood as a young piano player because neighbors could hear her music at all hours, but it wasn’t until she lived in the desert that she truly began to find her voice. The LA/NY based 26 year old “tripl3” threat (lyricist, chanteuse and beat-maker) writes about dropping out of college to live in the desert for 6 months at 18, growing up as the great granddaughter of the founder of Pan American Airlines, confronting fears related to noise induced hearing loss, navigating the challenges of coming of age in a time-obsessed society, the legacy of the Gold Rush in California, and creates instrumentals that make you feel like you're traversing through time and space. Her vocals are both ethereal and penetrating and work perfectly with the fusion of genres she creates in the studio. Anything from EDM to pop to house to disco to funk, and more, is her playground.

She writes her own lyrics, creates her own beats, plays her own instruments, produces and mixes her own songs – she does it all. And through it all she brings a point of view that’s surprising in its freshness. Born into a quintessential high status American family, whose forefather was an Pan American’s founder Juan Trippe, Elodie says she always felt like she lived a different life than most other girls and felt a keen sense of responsibility to uphold the family name.
And because of Trippe’s example, many men in the family were put on a pedestal. The combination of growing up in a privileged way, while longing for an escape became something that was overwhelming more often than not. In college, she made a documentary tracing her journey of writing her first song because she thought it would be an entertaining story arc. Though she'd played piano since the age of 5, she’d never written an original song.

A few months earlier she spent time in the desert as a kind of soul searching journey. As she dug into the songwriting moments, she found herself tapping into experiences in the desert and pulling from all the emotions she’d felt over the years that she couldn’t previously articulate. Out of that she was able to create something truly original and says of the experience: "I learned to make fire out there(bow drilling) and it was the catalyst for the realization that there were other ways to release the tension within me I'd been chasing in the wrong ways; for me it was creative expression." She preformed at a Jazz Foundation of America event headlined by Macy Gray and Wyclef Jean shortly after pursuing singing in a serious way, but took a break for four years after a Karaoke performance gone wrong on a date and worked in the documentary world.

"I'm 26 now, and its just the right time for me to emerge as an artist--I couldn't make the kind of music I do now had I started earlier and I'm focused and I know myself better and I've shed a lot of my insecurities."

Her most recent single is a song called “Gold Rush,” which she said was inspired by the Gold Rush in California in the mid-1800s. That “gold fever” serves as a metaphor for anyone who has uprooted their life to chase a dream. “People who chase after something without any guarantee of success...” she said. “Slim chances... Bio

Elodie Rêverie embarked on a journey long ago. A journey that began in early childhood, with her fingers poised over piano keys and continues today, as she writes, performs, and produces her music with a fierce independence.

This self-reliant nature is born of a confidence gained the hard way. Gained via hours at the piano as a child in Brooklyn, and as a history major in college. Gained over months of primitive living in the Nevada desert. Gained from interning for a blues legend in Nashville. Gained from her time recording at the famed 4th Street Recording Studio in sunny Southern California. Gained with every instant she’s ever stepped up on a stage.

Elodie (rhymes with Melody) is bound by close family ties and these bonds are a huge part of her artist DNA. As the granddaughter of an important aviator, Elodie embraces every last facet of her heritage including the lore around her Scottish ancestry which has called her back to Scotland to explore castles, study songwriting, and channel lessons from both into the creation of her single “Skeleton Castle.”

Intimately personal songwriting is not new to Rêverie which is why her lyrics and sultry vocals carry so much emotion. Songs like “Fire In The Desert” and “Gold Rush” come straight from her struggles and triumphs. Using a bow staff she forged fire from nothing and after completing her college degree, Elodie understood both the literal and metaphorical gold rush that motivated her California recording career.

Hammering beats drive much of her music with softer melodies bringing out the nuances in her voice which has been described as ethereal and dreamlike. Apt descriptions given rêverie is French for dream. The word is also the title of a classic composition by Claude Debussy which has always spoken to Elodie’s musical soul and perhaps sparked the musical journey that Elodie Rêverie now traverses.
