"Critiques"

®“To hear them play is not only to be entertained, but educated and encouraged to spread a philosophy of unity among all people. They won over the crowd body and soul.” Patrick Taylor, Laney Tower.

®“The combination of Elouise's lovely soprano voice, peppered with the pathos of African history - the first hand experience that comes from growing up in the deep South - with that of a man who'd lived in a similar belly of the beast was a combination that couldn't lose”-Wanda Sabir, SF Bayview Express.

® Amandla Poets “ have inherited Mahlathini's torch and have taken on his mission of bringing the message to the masses… belting out its own kind of mbaqanga, which melds American R&B, world beat, and African reggae. ...spice up this eclectic mix with soulful vocals, a teaspoon of rap, and catchy yet politically weighted lyrics…inspire thought -- and a little booty-shaking.”-Night & Day, SF Weekly

®“Menell hired Amandla Poets to perform at his 60th birthday party and said the 300-strong crowd was "knocked out." A friend who had never danced before because of a cultural prohibition, broke down and kicked up her heels. "They were responding to the sheer brilliance and cohesiveness,"-Jo Menel, Documentary Filmmaker and fan of South African Music
