With a name meaning ‘love’ in Icelandic and a voice compared to an angel’s, 21 year-old singer-songwriter, ELSKA has charmed her way into the hearts of many audiences. Her soulful, piano inspired, acoustic-pop melodies have enticed the ears of music lovers all across the Gold Coast, Brisbane and interstate.

ELSKA is no stranger to being in the spotlight, she has been performing onstage since she was 6 years-old. The multi-talented entertainer has been dancing, singing and playing piano, harp & guitar to spellbound crowds since her primary school days.

Songwriting is ELSKA’s true passion. “It’s about being ‘inside’ the music and letting it take over you”, reveals ELSKA. “It’s so important to make the melodies my own and to put my mark on the recording and production process. It’s not just about standing there and simply singing”.

ELSKA’s love for soulful music is closely mirrored by her musical influences. “Artists such as Jewel and Tori Amos have been so influential on my music and my life”, states ELSKA. “More recently, I’ve been inspired by the likes of Vanessa Carlton, Michelle Branch and Brooke Fraser”.

Currently in her final year studying Popular Music at the QLD Conservatorium of Music, ELSKA has her twinkling eye set firmly on taking over her second home of Sydney in 2006. Until then, local audiences can revel in ELSKA’s latest EP ‘Breakaway’, due for independent release in July 2005. Written, recorded and produced by ELSKA, the EP features 5 emotion-filled songs - all showcasing her signature acoustic-pop style.

But perhaps the clearest vision of ELSKA’s future career comes from the down-to-earth artist herself. “Music is a universal language”, expresses ELSKA. “It breaks down barriers and crosses continents. I feel so honoured to be part of something so simple, yet so special. For me, song-writing is the heart and soul of being human”.
