I'm currently in NYC, in town for AfroPunk this weekend, and after hitting Mick Jenkins listening party for Wave[s] last night, I've had some reflections. While existing in such a strong local community of artistry, it's easy to get caught up and not look at the bigger picture, especially as a Bay Area resident. For somewhere with little resources, we make shit happen, and there's folks truly pushing progressive music and art. Oakland native EluJay is one of those, tracks I've heard from him have never come off as forced, and you get the sense that he truly has fun making music - something you don't hear everyday. His latest, "Pushing Lines" is an example of that, where we find Elu crooning on the hook while liberating an inventive and catchy flow throughout the verses. This has the summertime vibe, the production an embodiment of Bay Area sound infused with new flavor from the young emcee, giving us a taste of what to expect in his upcoming release Afrocentrik . Stream that below, and check him out at TOMBOGO's upcoming event "Boundless Heights 2" on September 5th at Oakland Terminal. - Youthful Kinfolk
@EluJay x @Davuahh connect for this new track entitled "Numerology". Both deliver solid verses. Here's to hoping we'll be getting a full project from EluJay soon. - Tyrese Johnson
