ELVENKING

Two years after “Red Silent Tides”, Italian folk power metal cult act ELVENKING return with their new studio album “Era”.

“This is indeed a bright new ERA and we managed to start it just by looking at our past career and by reconnecting with our deepest roots...” states the band. And rightfully so: “Era” includes just everything the ELVENKING fan will love. The stylistic spectrum covers songs going from high speed folk metal to melodic and romantic ballads, from crushing metal and melancholic mid tempo tracks to acoustic folk tunes.

The folk part has been increased, compared to “Red Silent Tides”. “Era” therefore combines the sound of the latest albums with the folky roots of the band, also underlined by the addition of Maurizio Cardullo (known from the Italian band FOLKSTONE) who contributed pipes, flutes and other typical folk instruments on “Era”.

Also two new permanent members joined the group’s ranks, in bass player Jakob (who replaced Gorlan) and drummer Symohn, taking over the sticks from Zender).

As guests ELVENKING were able to win over the legendary Jon Oliva (ex-Savatage, Jon Oliva’s Pain, Trans-Siberian Orchestra), to sing on two songs. Also Teemu Mantysaari (WINTERSUN) contributed a guitar solo.
After “The Scythe” (2007), ELVENKING recorded their second album in Helsinki’s Sonic Pump studios with producer Nino Laurene (a.o. Amorphis, Lordi).
