Bio

In the International Township of Auroville, South India, is the community of Solitude, a group of young people living a simple, sustainable lifestyle, growing their own food and exploring community life. Between growing rice, milking cows and working in the forge, they are busy writing, recording and performing with their band Emergence.
Emergence is the musical fruit of a life close to nature and a need to express this life through music. Not just another East Meets West experience, Emergence's music is acoustic yet popular, with a flavor of India; Acoustic Indo-Pop. The introspective vocals in english and the South Indian language Tamil reflect the search "Who am I?" Acoustic guitar and Carnatic violin probe and stir the emotions, while bass and drums set the groove, fusing Latin, funk, jazz and hip-hop, leaving the music softly playing on inside.

Krishna is the guitarist and vocalist of Emergence. From the UK, Krishna moved to India at the age of 19. He studied under the Goan guitarist Amancio D'Silva, and is strongly influenced by jazz, folk music, and Hindustani themes.
Kirupa, hailing from Sri Lanka, is a Carnatic violinist and vocalist who sings in Tamil and English with his exquisite voice and melodies. He holds a degree in Carnatic music, and having lived in the international township of Auroville for the last ten years, has played with a wide diversity of musicians of different styles. Kirupa performs and records regularly in India.
Mishko M'Ba is a highly acclaimed bass player and producer from France, having recorded and performed extensively with top musicians from around the world, such as Ray Charles, Barbara Hendrix, Didier Lockwood and Ziskakan among many others. He plays a unique musical style on both fretless and six-string bass.
Lowell is a funk, jazz and rock drummer from Boston. He has spent the last years playing with various outfits throughout the US from Boston to Kodiak Island, Alaska, opening for such musicians as Qiuet Riot, Mike Patton, King Missile, Melt Banana, Lightning Bolt, etc. He is equally inspired by Carnatic thallams and working with musicians from completely different backgrounds.
