ans lucky enough to shoehorn inside Hennessey's on Saturday caught a pair of turbocharged sets from Emily Eddey, Morristown High class of '06.
Emily was celebrating the debut of her first CD, Rush. No, that's not a tribute to a conservative radio personality; it's named after a track on the CD. It also describes the scene as people clamored to buy the thing.
Michael Manahan of Morris Plains accompanied Emily on guitar and, when a string broke, made a nifty switch to beat boxing on the Roberta Flack hit, Killing Me Softly.
You'll have another chance to hear Emily at our MG Music Fest, on Saturday, Oct. 10, from 1 to 4 pm atop Morristown's DeHart Street parking deck. Admission is free, and there will be a raffle to benefit the Collinsville Child Care Center, a preschool for children from low-income families.
