Bio
Emily was born in Ohio, where she lived for a brief moment before moving to the East Coat (Guilford, Connecticut) where she would spend her youth and formative years. Surrounded by music from an early age, Emily’s very first musical influences were her parents’ record collection and her mom, a classically trained vocalist. She remembers attending voice classes and recitals with her mom as a kid and thinking singing was pretty cool.
So, in June of 1999, having relocated to Boston after graduation, Emily stumbled upon Boston based producer Francis Phan's ad seeking a vocalist for his studio electronica project and decided to give it a shot. At first Emily would lay lyrics and a melody down on tunes that Francis had already put together. Eventually they morphed into co-writing songs –Emily performing, Francis producing.
