Biography

Emily is a touring singer/songwriter/guitarist performing in a variety of venues. Her travels on the road have taken her talents to audiences in coffeehouses, restaurants, festivals, house concerts, live radio interviews and performances, listening rooms and concert halls, including the world-renowned Sheldon Concert Hall in St. Louis, Missouri. Emily’s strong family musical influences lead her down the path to songwriting. She began public performances in her hometown of St. Louis and for several years has been taking her music on the road. Some additional musical experiences include being a former weekly open mic host in St. Louis, a member of the acoustic folk/bluegrass trio The RedHouse WoodPickers, and composer of soundtrack music for the children’s educational video “The Vowel Factory.” When she is not on the road, Emily performs nearer to her home south of Springfield, Missouri. Lyrics

Little Sheep

Written By: Emily Higgins

LITTLE SHEEP
By Emily Higgins

CHORUS:
Little sheep, come follow and I will lead you home
To the peaceful, grazing valley you will roam
The arms of Mother Mary will rock you to sleep
Every night in heaven, little sheep

VERSE 1:
Those times you were lost along the way
Your soul always told you where to go
So rest your weary bones on this day
Join the loved ones you know

REPEAT CHORUS

INSTRUMENTAL BREAK

VERSE 2:
See that light up ahead
Take hold of my hand
Trust the words I have said
And come with me to glory land

SINGING RIVER
By Emily Higgins

VERSE 1:
Singing river, I can hear you speaking to me
Take me gently in your arms
I will sail upon your waters as you roam
Gently rock me, take me home

VERSE 2:
Singing river, wake the sleeping memories
Let me live them once again
I will hold them close then softly let them go
See how they ride the winds that blow

CHORUS:
Some will wish to sing along
Some will pass you by
Some will give you all they have
Some will never try

INSTRUMENTAL BREAK

VERSE 3:
Singing river, share your words and soothing rhythm
And friends will gather at your shore
Help them feel the beauty deep within their soul
Tell them stories as you roll

REPEAT CHORUS
REPEAT FIRST VERSE

My Father's Rivers

Written By: Emily Higgins

MY FATHER’S RIVERS
By Emily Higgins

VERSE 1:
My father’s rivers flow through time
Cut through these hills that I still climb
I feel his presence everywhere
But most when spring is in the air

VERSE 2:
The Current takes me down his roads
Old fallen trees, under wings of gold
Around each bend sparks a memory
Another branch on father’s tree

CHORUS:
My father’s rivers know
My father’s rivers have seen
That I feel most at home
When I’m living days like these
When the day comes to an end
And the light is growing dim
I will feel better
‘Cause I spent that time with him

INSTRUMENTAL BREAK

VERSE 3:
Sweet William blooms along the shore
A purple frame around father’s door
The April breeze gives me a chill
As I wave goodbye and climb the hill

REPEAT CHORUS
REPEAT LAST TWO LINES OF CHORUS
