Emily Jones

BandRockSinger/Songwriter

I call my music Chocolate Travel Rock because when you hear it you'll feel groovy, the velvet chocolatey-ness of my smooth-groove voice may rock your world, you'll feel like getting in your car, or in your jet plane, or spaceship and zooming away into the horizon.

Biography

Hailing from the San Francisco Bay area, now settled in the Endless Mountains of northeastern Pennsylvania, I was raised on a healthy diet of Chicago-style rhythm & blues, classic rock, classical Composers, opera, bluegrass, jazz, metal... anything you can think of.

My father, being a professional drummer, taught me that life is a series of rhythms and beats and that we all have our own thang goin' on. That obviously made a huge impression on me.
I've always been a singer, and I've always written my own songs from the melodies swirling around in my head. I never had any idea I would eventually do anything with that, it's like turning breathing into an art form, which is pretty damned cool.

My musical education has been a lifelong one of exposure, and spending much time with other musicians in the midst of their creations and performance. I've studied voice, guitar, piano, theory, and songwriting, but continue to have a thirst for more inventive ways to express a thought musically. I find the whole process of songwriting relaxing and exhilarating. I never stick to a standard or follow a formula, however I hear the music is how it will be. I love to write lyrics, the more interesting to sing the better. Everywhere I go I bring a guitar to noodle on should inspiration strike.

My muses/inspirations are many and could be anything from a conversation, to a billboard, or even the back of a shampoo bottle.

Lyrics

Say Goodbye

Written By: Emily Jones

I can't believe it came to this
There's nothing I can do
A tear has ripped its way inside
Too many emotions collide

It sickens me to go like this
To leave you here alone
I see the sadness in your eyes
They're mirrors of my own

Chorus:
How will I find the closure that I know I need inside?
Didn't take the time to tell you how I really feel inside
Too hard to Say Goodbye
Seems that was only yesterday
Today we face the sorrow
The ache we're feeling now, please let it die tomorrow

- Acoustic guitar solo-

My days were filled with thoughts of you
But now they've turned to pain
Though I feel you linger near
Your face begins to fade (fade away)

Now everywhere I turn to look
Each street takes me away
The memories reminding me
Of all I didn't say
Say Goodbye, Say Goodbye

Chorus:
Oh how will I find the closure that I know I need inside?
Didn't take the time to tell you how I really feel inside
Too hard to Say Goodbye
Seems that was only yesterday
Today we face the sorrow
The ache we're feeling now, please let it die tomorrow
Face the sorrow

Experiment 31

Written By: Emily Jones

Walking alone in the park one day
Looked around when I heard someone say,
"You're not alone, we see you there
We have something to show you,
Something to share"

To my surprise right from the sky
A meteor fell in my open eye
The light intense, there was no pain
Only alien music in a minor refrain

Chorus:
They said, you're experiment 31
Cannot tell anyone
Experiment 31
Watching you, watching everyone

The light was gone, no one there
Saw the blackbirds take to the air
Would anyone believe me?
I wondered still
Not a soul, no, no one will

I turned and left, went on my way
Passed a streetlight, began to sway
Spinning round, going faster now
Lost my step, plunged to the ground

Looking up at the twisting sky
Saw two sattelites pass me by
They say to me, "we see you there
We stole your mind, your thoughts and fears"

Chorus:
Experiment 31
We anesthetize everyone
Experiment 31
What have they done?

You're experiment 31
Cannot tell anyone
Experiment 31
Watching you, watching everyone
