Emily Moultrie has created the soundtrack to a dream world pierced by lyrics that cut to the quick...spooky, sexy, reflective, and relentless. Her songs and her performance can be at once serene and kick-ass, bringing her audience to their feet and to their knees.

Biography

The Lowdown-

Emily's fans come to hear her sing. While she could give ANY well-known songtress a run for their money, Emily chooses to put her voice next to songs that she feels convey her personality more than any generic power ballad could. The songs she has written and performs show her to be someone of great range who spans genres, themes and octaves, and those who hear these songs are both surprised and enamored by them. Her fans literally rise up when they hear her, hands in the air and it only takes one time to make anyone a fan.

Growing up on ELO and Jesus Christ Superstar, Emily's songs can't help but have elements of the cinematic and dramatic. Her songs range from the sublimely delicate to the all-out orchestral anthem, with a little groove in the middle. Inspired by the synthpop bands of the eighties like Tears for Fears and Eurythmics, and icons like Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush, Emily is able to fuse the strength and soul of her incredibly beautiful voice with mesmerizing sounds and amazing harmonies that surround you completely.
Along with her band, including co-producer/programmer/ drummer Matthew Kallen, Emily mixes otherworldly synthetic sounds with live instruments that include an energized bass, transcendent guitar and some seriously tight drums that give her music an unexpected edge reminiscent of Garbage and Pink. The band's polished alternative electronic pop sound is fueled by their performance, expertly mixing the electronic and acoustic forces and blowing everyone away.

Lyrics

Monster

Written By: Emily Moultrie

I heard what I wanted to hear
I thought that you knew you were wrong
I know I created this monster you’ve become
I know you bit your tongue for me
You wanted me to regret what I’d done
I know I created this monster you’ve become
I fought just to stay in the battle
I knew you had already won
I know I created this monster you’ve become
You starved on the feast that I fed you
I lived on your indifferent crumbs
I know I created this monster you’ve become
I wrenched my heart to make it easy on you
I didn’t care that my life came undone
I know I created this monster you’ve become
You thought our lives could just slip past unnoticed
It was too much for you to care about me
We both know I was the one who was slighted
We both know that you knew I was right
You couldn’t stop for a moment and listen
I couldn’t stop for one second and listen
You couldn’t stop what you had already done
I know I created this monster I’ve become

Finger In Your Mouth

Written By: Emily Moultrie

FINGER IN YOUR MOUTH

It’s cold on your forehead
Your legs are buckling under
Get up off the floor
Check yourself in the mirror

Everyone wants you
Everyone needs you
You’re the most beautiful thing
To ever walk the earth

Pull your hair out
You can’t scream and shout
You deserve it

Can’t wait to get down on your knees
You can see stars in your eyes
Can’t help the butterflies
That won’t leave you alone

It’s warm on your cheeks
This time will really be different
Get a hold of yourself
It’s all time well spent

Everyone wants you
Everyone needs you
You’re the only person
To exist in this world

Rip your guts out
And though it’s not what this is about
You ignore it

Can’t wait to get down on your knees
You can see stars in your eyes
Can’t help the butterflies
That won’t leave you alone

Pull your hair out
You want to scream and shout
You’ve earned it

You can’t seem to reach the itch
And then your skin starts to crawl
But you’ll get rid of it all
When you’re on your own

Let Me Out

Written By: Emily Moultrie

LET ME OUT

I feel like the girl who got locked in the closet
The day that the sun came out
I yell and I scream, but nobody listens
No one can hear me shout

Day after day
I’m wasting away
Do I even have something to say

I feel like the world has just gone on without me
While I’ve struggled to get out
I know I ‘m the one who can break from this misery
But still I’m riddled with doubt

Night after night
I wait for the light
And I wonder if I’ve lost my sight

Let Me Out
Let Me Out
Let Me Out

I know I’m the one who has all of the power
To drag myself into the light
But each time I try a voice on the other side
Tells me the timing’s not right

Year after year
I sit and wait here
While my voice just gets harder to hear

Let Me Out
Let Me Out
Let Me Out

If someone would say everything’s okay
That I’m not going crazy; I need no one to save me
Tomorrow and always, someone to say
And save me anyway

Let Me Out
Let Me Out
Let Me Out

Time after time
I wait for a sign
Or am I just losing my mind

Let Me Out
Let Me Out
Let Me Out
Let Me Out
