Lyrics

Not Really There

Written By: Emily Shore

there's something in me that needs to be released
throw it in the air and let the wind and water bring me peace
and i never toldy ou honey how much i cared
cause you were in the room but i was not really there

sometimes in the morning i do not want to get out of bed
you rise up with the sun and tell me you will sleep when you're dead
and i loved you for all the tings you were that i was not
i love you cause i cannot cannot stop

all the reasons that i hold on so so tight
i sift through them with the moon in the middle of the night
and all the reasons that i wait and do not dare
you showed me honey those reasons are not really there
you showed me honey all those reasons are not really there

By All Accounts

Written By: Emily Shore

by all accounts i should have been smiling
but my history and heart were conspiring
against the night's victory
letting one absence take all of me

must my quest for what i think i need always consume me
in a tense kind of race, a fearful fury?
could that not be what moves me on
and what i need could come in a calm?

could what i need come in a calm?
oh i hope i have always been wrong

and you caught my collapse i'm convinced
and i wasn't so sure you would want to see it
then you did that thing that you do with your eyes
and we left laughing equally surprised
when you did that thing that you do with your eyes
we left laughing equally surprised

could what i need come in a calm?
oh i hope i have always been wrong

i don't think we'll make it but i hope i'm wrong
oh i need love to come in a calm
i don't think we'll make it but i hope i'm wrong

Mindy - "The Basketball Song"

Written By: Emily Shore

mindy jones is 6 foot 2 i am 5 foot 8
mindy jones is glaring down at me
mindy jones is thin and quick
i am strong but slow
mindy laughs "so that's who's covering me?"

mindy is the leading scorer for hte hometown team
mindy has that rival high school charm
she'll elbow you discreetly call your mother a whore
then leave the gym with some boy on her arm

i think the referee is from this town
an elbow to my head but i got the foul
so i guess that sort of thing is allowed
so pardon me if mindy falls to the ground

coach said i was on her don't let her win the post
that is how she always gets the ball
i got so nervous i peed 5 times in the locker room
in what is now my personal lucky bathroom stall

i think the referee is from this town
he has this way of laughing while maintaining a frown
and i think i'm hated by this entire town
for pushing mindy til mindy falls to the ground

we played on the same team last summer
i even thought we were friends
but tonight we both have a deeper longing
but only one can win
it's like there's not enough oxygen

i heard that mindy stole her neighbor's car last week
headed south just before our graduation day
they wonder if she'll lose her fancy scholarship
they wonder why she scarred her hard earned name

everyone in homeroom is looking in my eyes
to see the satisfaction beneath my surprise
but all i can think is i hope she is alright
which makes me believe, oh i want ot believe
i want to believe that we all want the peak
but we climb
for the climb

A Non-Toothache

Written By: Emily Shore

a non-toothache is a wonderful thing,
a wonderful thing,
a wonderful thing
a non-toothache is a wonderful thing
you won't know 'til you do

the streets are filled with things i don't like
things i don't like
things i don't like
the streets are filled with things i don't like
so i appreciate the things i do

misery is waiting for what you don't like
to change overnight
for all people to suddenly
nod their head
all agree

i am human, i like to be right
i like to be right, i like to be right
i am human, i like to be right
but i'd rather be happy
i'd rather be happy

solo verse
solo bridge

i am human, i like to be right
i want to be right,
i'm usually right
i am human, i want to be right
but i'd rather be happy

and just to be happy
i forgive you
