Biography

Matthew Joiner—also known as the artist Emjae— is a New Orleans-born, Connecticut-based independent hip-hop artist. Known for mixing EDM with hip-hop influenced by both the Dirty South and East Coast, Emjae works hard to create his unique sound. Thanks to his dedication, hard work, networking, and expert connections, Emjae’s appeal extends beyond the US, making him an artist recognized internationally. With three successful albums already to his name—“Crash Music,” “Soup Kitchen,” and the Japan-exclusive 2013 release “Beyond the Miles”—Emjae has just started his climb to the top.

Since busting into the music scene, Emjae has demonstrated his talent and originality at shows all along the East Coast and in the South circuits. Though he’s still on the rise, his music has brought him back and forth between the east coast and the south, building his fan base and gaining recognition and respect as a leader in hip-hop. In America, Emjae has opened for major hard-hitters like Cash money, Lil Wayne, Weezer, Snoop Dog, Waka Flocka, Big Sean, Talib Kewli, Soulja Slim, Joe Budden, Jim Jones, Sugar Hill Gang, Slaughter House, Mya, Juelz Santana, Red Café, Common, and more. But the US isn’t his only sector: he’s made it to Europe and Asia as well, gaining an even wider audience, especially in Denmark and Japan.
