Megan's Song

Megan's Song

I saw you in the corner, you were pouting out your gaze --
And the boys around adored you, they were basking in your rays --
Your hair, your clothes, your shoulder bones were all so well contrived --
Facsimiles of the magazines from which your look derived --
You want to live the cliché but deprived of deprivation --
If you’ve got nothing there’s nought to lose well that’s quite an estimation --
So you take what you get, got it good, and give it all away --
Now tormented and downtrodden, because you’ve got nowhere to stay --
But you’ll always have a place to stay. -- -- --

If you think you’re original you’ve seen nothing - nothing at all --
If you think you’re original then you know no-thing. -- -- --

I saw you at the bus stop trying to hitch a free ride --
A pick me up to pick you up from the world that you despise --
The false fast lanes and niceties did not get you too far --
Well if you choose to run on treadmills, then you’ll stay where you are --
Goading and free-loading, still claim the world’s unfair --
But if you’d started walking, you’d already be there --
But melodrama works for you, trap victims in a trance --
They come like flies to spiders' webs - caught as they catch your glance --
Now take your stance - GO -- -- --

If you think you’re original you’ve seen nothing - nothing at all --
If you think you’re original then you know no-thing. -- -- --

I saw you in the paper staring back from the front page --
My mother asked if I knew you as we were the same age --
There where they all predicted, I shocked but not surprised --
But your method and conclusion, no one could realise --
I cover my eyes --

Deflated Balloons

Deflated Balloons

Prelude
In the corner of the room
The deflated balloon
Offers commiserations
Not what they had in mind
It's just that someone misdefined
Love as infatuation
And as time erodes
The dream corrodes
And suddenly...

---v1---
Stuck here with this man and the three bodies they produced
She thought she'd fight that fate but must've called a truce
So locking all emotion, firm inside the vault
She hopes he'll hurt her so
The end won't be her fault

---Chorus---
The bullet's there to bite
But apathetic to the fight
A stranger in her life, she's sedated
...deflated

---V2---
She watches weeks and days and months arrive and then disperse
While time and rhyme and reason barter better for the worse
And has lost all hope of heroes lifting this unbroken spell
Four eyes on the ceiling
Two bodies parallel

Chorus

---V3---
She settled for settling
Now found, bound by this metal ring
Came here for fear she'd be on her own
Now she's never felt so alone
