"Gary Allen - Review of Ladybug Album"

Emma Kelly, or Ladybug as I call her, has been reviewed as honest, authentic, opinonated and her lyrics have been called insightful, and passionate with a social consciousness that resonates in her music. That doesn’t leave me a lot of adjectives left to choose from. She is the only artist out there that has done a song titled Blackbird that fits her like a glove and would no doubt get a thumbs up from Sir Paul McCartney.

Emma reminds me of an Aussie version of Cyndi Lauper. This girl just wants to have fun and make music that is bubbly and straight from the heart. She could play The Opry here in Nashville and fit right in, except she would have to check her koala bear at the door and will never find a vegemite sandwich on Lower Broad. She would get the attention of the tourists and locals much the same way her YouTube reviewers, that are male, agree she is easy on the eyes. At the end of a Ladybug performance I am betting you tell your best friends,” That’s the girl I want to marry!” ?

Em embodies everything I love about rock, pop and indie music. She flexes her muscles with her new CD, Ladybug, delivers great vocals and delivers a remarkable performance, hitting the high notes that Robert Plant would struggle to reach. The songs are about strength, struggles, hopes and love. The pacing of the songs on Ladybug allow the tunes to breathe their own existence and are beautifully executed with just enough production to make the compositions shine brightly.

This girl is animated and has a great sense of humor. She could have won my Sonicbids International Competition if she had not been up against a Rolling Stone, Doobie Brother and Pointer Sister. I couldn’t have placed against those odds, but Emma did. Her theme seems to be revealing your inner emotions with intimacy and personality with great music thrown in to boot. There has to be something underneath to be sexy and entertaining, and she does that much like she is channeling Stevie Nicks or Sheryl Crow. Her songs are fearless and great stories about relationships and tribulations that make us more than just strangers passing in the night, but like minded travelers tied together by music and experiences. That is what Emma Kelly sings about so well. Ok, I digress. I’m a fan, you will be too!
