Emma Shearer

In the past year Emma has set up acoustic sessions to help showcase talented musicians on and off the gigging scene and many of these musicians have played some major gigs in 2010.
Emma Shearer’s Coffee Shop Sessions and Bogbain Farm Sessions are now very successful and have created a great buzz in the international and local music scene.
Emma never thought she would get the chance to say “I have performed at a light house, but not just any light house John and Isaac Sutherland’s light house, performing with a line up which included Joe Cassidy’s band, Ian Thomas Parks, Nels Andrews, John and Isaac Sutherland, at the end of the night everyone joined together and sang Desperado, priceless”
Emma has performed at venues such as the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, Belladrum Festival, Clachan Festival, Bogbain Farm, Loch Broom Radio, The Coffee Shop, Hootanannays, Ironworks, House Concerts, Ben Wyvis Hotel, Argyll Hotel, Strathconan Hall and Gairloch Hotel amongst many other great places.
Belladrum Festival was a great highlight of 2010 for Emma playing her own songs to a massive crowd alongside Matt Sillars, who kicks ass on the electric guitar slide.
Emma has never stayed in one place for very long and her accent has changed many times, but she’s originally from Orkney and this is where her musical influences originate from, her relatives would regularly play in front of the fire and she would join in the singing, as a result of this she later learned to play the guitar when she was 12.
Emma’s songs reflect what has gone on in her life. She plays various finger picking styles and rhythmic changes on the guitar, including a half beat or two.
Emma songs are a mixture of folk, rock and blues acoustic music from ‘I think you’re Mad’ to ‘Lost’, there is a song for everybody.
