Emma Weiss

Emma Weiss

Calling upon the influences of blues, funk, and folk to round out Emma's rythmic percussive style, she rips up the beats with improvisational joy, and experimentation. Alternate tunings abound, when Emma hits the stage playing her monsterous guitar.

Emma is a songwriter from Northeast CT. Emma’s music and guitar style are un-conventional. Finding inspiration for song through open tunings, and playing with multiple guitars and instruments, makes Emma an act to reckon with! Resting comfortably on the borders between acoustic folk music and independently created groove, her music move, sometimes sinking low into bass directed patterns, and returning again on the next song with fingerpickin blue tune.
Emma’s music is a host of downbeat driven and danceable tunes. Emma has performed at coffeehouses, cafes and open-mics around CT, RI, MA,VT, PA, and NY including The Vanilla Bean in Pomfret CT, The Langdon Street Café in Montpelier VT, Club Helsinki in MA, and at 5 Universities in CT alone, including University of Connecticut and Wesleyan. She has appeared on WHUS 91.7 fm (University of CT) and WWUH 91.3 fm (University of Hartford)
With one album under her belt, Clamor (from 2007) and a host of other live recordings from shows and radio appearances, work is underway to create more new recordings for your listening pleasure!
In September of 2008 Emma went on tour for 2 weeks with the Human Rights Awareness tour, a multi media presentation of the arts and music, spreading the word about human rights issues at Colleges around the country.

In the spring of 2009 Emma was selected as a finalist in the first ever Club Helsinki Winter Song Search, and in September of 2009 She had several apperances at the Utica Music and Arts Festival
