Vocal sensation Emma Wells is the exciting new breakthrough musical talent from Chester. Emma is an original singer-songwriter who is now producing her own unique brand of contemporary soul music. She released her debut EP at the end of 2012 to much acclaim, whilst the video for the first single from that record – Shabby Clothes – recorded views into the tens of thousands within just a few days of going live on YouTube.
Emma performed shows to loyal followers all over the country in 2012, building on her significant local fan-base in the North West. Now, details of Emma’s milestone 2013 tour are soon to be unveiled…
Emma has many musical influences which can be heard in her new material today, from a range of genres including soul, country, folk and pop. She first began professional vocal training, to fine-tune her singing ability, in Cheshire just a couple of years ago. Her talent was eventually recognised after she reached the live area final of Open Mic UK – the country’s biggest un-televised national singing competition. Here she performed as one of just twenty unsigned artists, who were chosen by industry judges as the best in the area from thousands of auditionees.
Emma wowed the judges with her rich soulful vocals and distinctive tone, performing trademark unique cover versions of classic tracks. The competition judges were so impressed with her that they put her in touch with record label Baby Girl Music in London. She is now a member at BGM’s highly-renowned singing academy – Major Music, who are recognised as the country’s leading artist development company. They have developed highly-successful recording artists like superstar Pixie Lott, X-factor’s Lucy Spraggan and teen sensation Hatty Keane, amongst others.
Since then, Emma has been travelling to London on a regular basis to work with BGM’s best songwriters and producers, co-producing and recording her own original material. Her first solo project showcases rich, distinctive and soulful vocals blended with contemporary instrumentals and radio-friendly melodies.
