Empire Lies was formed in 2006 consisting of four high school friends. The original members were; Evan Santa (vocals/guitar), Dean Hill (bass), Dan Robere (guitar/vocals), Shaun Berst (drums/vocals). Together they wrote and released 2 EPs over the course of two years (The Poison I Crave - 2007, & Brilliant Under Bright Lights - 2008). They also performed as an opening band for many big name touring groups (Faber Drive, Set Your Goals, No Trigger, Mariana's Trench, etc). The four were able to create quite a following in their hometown of Thunder Bay unofficially selling over 500 copies of both of their EPs.

In May of 2008 Shaun Berst was replaced by Justin Kainula and Empire Lies began to set their sights on touring Southern Ontario. In the fall of 2008 Empire Lies released 4 songs exclusively online and embarked on a 14 date tour entitled "The Southern Comfort Tour 2008". Some of the dates included; Toronto - The Bovine Sex Club, Burlington - The Red Rooster, & Ottawa - The New Bayou. The tour was quite a success for the group.

Within a number of months Dan Robere left the band and Empire Lies decided to continue as a three piece.
Empire Lies without hesitation recorded yet another EP in August 2009 entitled, "The -LIVE- Sessions EP". It was an EP recorded Live off the floor as Empire Lies played "Black Pirate's Pub" (Thunder Bay, ON) to a sold out crowd. The EP was later mixed and mastered but contained no overdubs or studio sessions. Former guitarist Dan Robere was a guest player on a number of the tracks.

Empire Lies have taken a long road to get where they are today. The melodic pop-punk three piece from Thunder Bay, ON, Canada now consists of two original members; Evan Santa (vocals/guitar), Dean Hill (bass/vocals), and the newest addition, Justin Kainula (drums/vocals). Together they create a sound that is as refreshing as it is unique. Empire Lies draw influence from a wide array of genres ranging from skate punk to classic and alternative rock. When the melody driven guitars of Evan Santa are played over the extremely energetic and tightly crafted rhythm section of Dean Hill and Justin Kainula, The three provide a sound and style that sets the foundation for every song. This is complemented by Santa's contagious vocal melodies that create a unique sing-along experience over a melodic pop-punk orchestra.

Together the three individuals plan on conquering Southern Ontario with their name, only then to move on to the western coast, and hope eventually to become a household name all across Canada.
Empire Lies is currently working on the pre production for their fourth studio release which is expected to be readily available in the spring of 2009. A cross Canada tour focusing mainly on Southern Ontario will be launched in support of the release.
