Most bands set out to define an artistic niche – to create a musical need and fill it. Empire Theory’s goals represent more than just music. The Orlando based rock band’s greater purpose is to use music as a platform to precipitate social change.
“The fact that unsafe water and lack of basic sanitation cause 80% of diseases and kill more people every year than all forms of violence, including war, is completely unacceptable in this post-modern world,” says singer Sebastian Zaldibar. “This is just one of the many things we are determined to change.” This global humanitarian focus is not only the driving force behind the band, but it defines the musical and lyrical content.
While the band has only recently began creating music under the Empire Theory® name, the members have been collaborating musically in different settings for several years. It wasn’t until recently that all members agreed that they wanted to turn their focus towards changing the world for the better through their music.
Musically, Empire Theory brings a sort of creative fusion of Brit / Euro rock with the likes of Phoenix, MUTEMATH, Coldplay and on occasion, the Beatles.
Empire Theory’s music has been featured in a series of television commercials produced by Florida Hospital, and the band is currently preparing for the release of their first album 'Colors'. The album was produced by Roy Mitchell-Cardenas (MUTEMATH, Pescao Vivo, Meshach Jackson) and is expected to be released August 21, 2012.
