Reassembling top selling rock French artists (Kyo, Watcha, Pleymo and Vegastar), Empyr has been performing all over Europe in 2008, from Manchester, UK, to Bratislava, Slovakia, in France where they are from, in Germany or in Austria to promote their first album "The Peaceful Riot", recorded and mixed by Ken Andrews. In a continuous music delivery strategy the band released a new exclusive EP "Skin" early 2009, before starting to compose for the second album.
Yet the group's main influence has no particular name. It springs from their absolute open mindedness and sensitivity to everything that excites their synapses. Ultimately, Empyr's principal inspiration is Empyr themselves.
Like its predecessor, Unicorn was produced by Ken Andrews (Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Nine Inch Nails, Beck, etc.) and recorded in midwinter at the ICP studio in Brussels.
It is a warm, energetic, hedonistic, optimistic album; a carnal, aphrodisiac, almost erotic record. In ancient mythology, the fantastic Unicorn chosen by the band is said to accelerate the fusion of flesh and heighten desire. The record is often powerful, regularly inventive and unfailingly lively. In its way, it is an antidote to the recession. Built on and for pleasure,
it will inspire rough dance floors, accompany the throes of physical passion, and shake the seats in frenzied concert halls.
The album gets off to a flying start with It’s Gonna Be, the song, striking a perfect balance between electro and rock was featured in the trailer for the seventh season of CSI : NY one of the largest television franchises.
