A spicy blend of Rock and Soul

Biography

A rebel is often defined as one who resists or defies an authority or a generally accepted convention. They are often ridiculed by the majority and celebrated by the minority. While most may revel in mayhem, others birth revolutions. These rebels see beyond the horizon, trailblazing paths for mankind's various forms, all the while keeping their integrity; they are often seen as being "enlightened" for their time. This is where the story of Enlightened Rebels, an Indie Soul Rock collaboration between Aija (singer/lyricist) and Satyen Thaker (guitarist/pianist/producer), based around San Francisco, begins. Their eclectic fusion of styles can be attributed to their vastly different artistic backgrounds and influences. Aija credits such artists as the Beatles, Sade, Fiona Apple, and Jill Scott for developing her lyrical enthusiasm. Satyen takes his inspiration from artists such as Radiohead, The Flaming Lips, and Beck...Together they rebel against the idea of conformity, with the cause of giving the world music from the soul. They are Enlightened Rebels.

Stiletto

VERSE 1

I’m a pistol
I’m a whip
Let me tell, I’m your worse nightmare on a stick
Yeah, I know I’m tough
But, play to much and you might just get cut
Been accused of many things, but I’ll only fess up to one
These bumps and bruses are testmony of a solider with a purple heart

CHORUS

Don’t be fooled by my lipstick or purfum
My halter top and mini skirts do speak volumes
Still that’s only half of the story,
Direct your eyes a little lower and checkout my
4 inch heels they dig real deep

VERSE 2

I’m a straight shooter,
Call I it like I see it
And my vision rivals that of an eagle
No you won’t see my curtesy or bow
To deny myself and just appease you
You question my feminie side
Cause don’t see any tears in my eyes
I’m not damsal in destress
I’m a big girl and I don’t need any kleenex

CHORUS

BRIDGES

Let me shed some light on your perspective
I can do just about anything
As good as you
Always a lady,
even more a rebel
I advise,
Don’t stand too close
I’m about to burst through this high glass celining
No my name ain’t sweetie
And I don’t respond to cat calls
Keep it up and I’ll show you the dark side of my steelos
And if you remember nothing else
Just remember this one thing
My stlettos are cute,
But don’t be fooled
They do dig deep

Catch 22

VERSE 1

My friends tell me to beware
That you’re the kind that leaves a heart broken trail
But I see you for all that you are and there’s no cause for alarm
You’re sleek, you’re sly and I’m in the mood for ride
They say I’m emotional ill-equipped to navigate between your lies and bs
But I say I’ve got this under control, but you’ve provide more than I can handle

CHORUS

Oh, Oh no
Seems I’m in trouble
Went in, threw caution to the wind
Can you blame a willing victim?
Catch 22

VERSE 2

I know it takes two to tango
But now I feel even more entangled
Then I ever bargained for you got me so
Hooked I share and shiver so much
That even withdrawal feels good
They say there’s no hope for recovery
That I’ll succumb to this pain and misery
But I say I can kick this habit, but it’ll take more than just therapy

Guitar Song

VERSE 1

In the ruins of my youth
Is a story few have heard
Of bittersweet romance
There on alone on the stage- he stood
Rugged and mysterious
Strumming on his guitar
We locked eyes almost instantly
And everything disappeared
As he plucked away at my heart

PRECHORUS

Come real close
Draw real near
Secretly serenade me as this melody passionately declares
You maybe with someone else
But this night you belong to me
We’ll live a life time in this moment
You’re all that I see-yeah
Come real close
Draw real near
This stage may separate us but there’s no distance between us in the music

VERSE 2

I came back almost every night
And he sweetly kissed me with notes and seduced me with his clothes on
Little did I ever suspect?
I was not the only he did this with
And so I besieged him

PRECHORUS

Why my love,
Do you treat me with disdain have I done something wrong
Why when I call you don’t answer
He then turned to me and said
You mistook me for my music
And gave yourself whole heartedly
The one you seek has many lovers
And I belong to no one!

Two of a Kind

Written By: lyrics written by Ada “Aija” Dyke

Verse 1

Play with my emotions
Whisper nothing good in my ear, in my ear
Toy with my affection, leave me nothing to show
But, but my my my my my tears

Pre-chorus 1

Wanna see me squirm
Wanna make me sweat
Give up all my powers
And live in regret
Love this tug of war
Eats me to the core
Truth and honor
Become spoils of war

Chorus 1

Wickedly sinful the way you throw me away
Delightful when you beg me to stay
Beautifully twisted accusations
Starve our romance of love attention
Toxic obsessions lead to desire
Wouldn’t you agree
Were two of a kind

Verse 2

Flirt with your friends
Just to see you charge raging mad, rage mad
Say, I’m not in the mood
Just to watch you, turn turn turn turn turn blue

Pre-chorus 2

Wanna see you squirm
Wanna make you sweat
Give up all your powers
And live in regret
Love this tug of war
Eats you to the core
Truth and honor
Become spoils of war

Chorus 2

Wickedly sinful the way I throw me away
Delightful when I beg me to stay
Beautifully twisted accusations
Starve our romance of love attention
Toxic obsessions lead to desire
Wouldn’t you agree
Were two of a kind
