BandChristianAdult Contemporary

Spiritual songs reflecting the journey of life. Eclectic mix of styles. Moving and rich presentation. Great audience connection. Rootsy, jazzy, folky, rocky original songs.

Biography

The members of En Route are destined to be together! Early in 1987 Bart & Debra Vogel were members of a band named Promise doing three-part harmony with acoustic guitars. Members left . . . and somewhat discouraged, Bart & Debra dreamed dreams, prayed some prayers, and wondered if this was the end of their musical road.

Through circumstances that can only be described as miraculous, the duo hooked up with Richard & Karey Harty. Richard’s mastery of keyboards and song writing, combined with Karey’s background vocals and percussion, rounded out Bart & Debra’s acoustic sound to form what today completes an amazing package of instrumental excellence and vocal artistry that presents a message of hope through the journeys of their life.

En Route has experienced life together. The band's live shows reflect the depth and richness of a great shared life.

Dose of Grace

Written By: Richard Harty

I was watching the news display.
They were talking about some people survey
Most folks that were asked to say
Why they never tell the truth today
Oh, then your ugly face came to mind
How you never tell the truth most times
But, I'm just in my critical negative state of mind
I'm just in my critical negative state of mind.

We survive on blame
Pointing the finger and naming names
We need a dose of grace
So we can all save face
Oh, Jesus became a friend of mine
Showed me how to forgive all kinds
That's the way that he can heal my shame
(Oh, that's the way that he can heal my shame)
That's the way that he can heal my shame

I'm pointin' at the splinter
Sticking in your eye
And I've got me a great big telephone pole in mine
I've got me a great big telephone pole in mine
I've got me a great big telephone pole in mine

We survive on blame
Pointing the finger and naming names
We need a dose of grace
So we can all save face
Oh, Jesus became a friend of mine
He showed me how to forgive all kinds
That's the way that he can heal my shame
Oh, that's the way that he can heal my shame
Oh, that's the way that he can heal my shame

Show Me

Written By: Debra M. Vogel

I can't hear you
Why can't I feel you any more?
Come to me
I don't know which way to go
Like Jacob long ago
I won't let you go
'Til you show me

Something's covering my eyes
Rescue me
From the pain that binds me so
Like Peter long ago
You won't let me go
'Til You show me

Walls have been built strong and mighty
Keeping the child from despair
And here in the safety of time and space
The walls that were built have no place
Truth is the answer to freedom
Soaring to places unseen
And here in the safety of Your embrace
Walls disappear by your grace

Still I follow
You are gently calling me
To a place
Where I can learn to trust your grace
Like a child's trust
In a father's touch
Won't you show me?

In my weakness You are strong
Here I am
Let the worries drain like sand
And like the painted sky
I will learn to fly
Won't You show me?

Your Voice

Written By: Barton J. Vogel

Your voice
I want to listen to your voice
(and no one else's)
Your voice
I want to listen to your voice
(And no one else's)

Yours is the one that's honest and true
Yours is the one with wisdom that's new
Yours is the one I can always count on

Your voice
I want to listen to your voice
(and no one else's)
Your voice
I want to listen to your voice
(And no one else's)

Yours is the one that's always been here
Yours is the one that takes away fear
Yours is the one I can always count on

Your voice
I want to listen to your voice
(and no one else's)
Your voice
I want to listen to your voice

So much of what I hear
So much of what I see
So much of what I'm told
Is so far from the truth

Your voice
I want to listen to your voice
(and no one else's)
Your voice
I want to listen to your voice
(And no one else's)

Your voice
I want to listen to your voice
(and no one else's)
Your voice
I want to listen to your voice
(And no one else's)

In The Silence

Written By: Debra M. Vogel

In the silence of this moment
I hear my heart beat soft and low
And in the silence of this heartbeat
I hear you calling out to me

Take my yoke upon you for it is easy
You don't have to go on alone
I am the way, the truth the very life in you
I am going to see you through

In the silence of the struggle
I feel so weak, but must go on
And through the silence He is pleading
You'll never make it on your own

Take my yoke upon you for it is easy
You don't have to go on alone
I am the way, the truth the very life in you
I am going to see you through

Time passes; I've tried on my own
I've given up it's all up to you

In the silence of a new day
My face is turning toward the sun
And like a trumpet he is sounding
The battle's over its been won

Take my yoke upon you for it is easy
You don't have to go on alone
I am the way, the truth the very life in you
I am going to see you through

Time passes; I've tried on my own
I've given up it's all up to you

How Can I Best Serve You

Written By: Barton J. Vogel

How can I best serve you, Father?
How can I be yours?
How can I best serve you, Father?
Make me like you are.

You are wonderful and marvelous.
You're powerful and tall!
You're ability to make a world
Far surpasses all!

How can I best serve you, Father?
How can I be yours?
How can I best serve you, Father?
Make me like you are.

You are always, understanding.
You're sympathetic too.
Your ability to solve a problem
Always gets me through.

How can I best serve you, Father?
How can I be yours?
How can I best serve you, Father?
Make me like you are.

You are functional and practical.
You know what life is here.
Your ability to sort it out
Takes away the fear!

How can I best serve you, Father?
How can I be yours?
How can I best serve you, Father?
Make me like you are.

How can I best serve you, Father?
How can I be yours?
How can I best serve you, Father?
Make me like you are.

Make me like you are (repeat 2x)

Secrets

Written By: Richard Harty

Sometimes I don't know how to express my sorrows.
So I live like there are no tomorrows.
My heart fears to tell someone the secrets that hold me down.

I find myself marching to one cause or another.
So, why do I find myself lost to my brothers?
When will I find someone to share the secrets that hold me down?

Please come down to me and let me know you're out there.
Help me find the tears to wash me clean.
Please come down to me so I can feel your safety
And tell you the secrets that hold me down.

I look down on me with such a lack of mercy.
Like that's going to help me change at all.
Would you love me if you knew all the secrets that hold me down?

It has been said that we are as sick as our secrets.
Confessing, revealing, Truth.
As the secrets fall so does the weight that holds me down.

Mercy,
Washing over me

Judge Not

Written By: Barton J. Vogel

It's easy to be critical when you see one doing something you would never do.

Judge not (what another does)!
Judge not (that ye be not judged)!
Judge not (what another does)!
Judge not (what your brother does)!

It's easy to be mistaken when you don't know the heart of someone (don't know what's inside).

Judge not (what another does)!
Judge not (that ye be not judged)!
Judge not (what another does)!
Judge not (what your brother does)!

Thank You

Written By: Debra M. Vogel

Thinking' as a little girl the way life should be
A mansion on the hilltop and prince charming next to me
Along with age comes wisdom and I think I understand
I'm never gonna make it unless I'm holding to your hand

I just want to thank you, thank you for your loving' ways
Thank you for the little things that brighten up each day
Thank you for the tougher times that teach me how to pray
Thank you for your grace that helps me run this race
Thank you (thank you)

There are many hopes and dreams I've had to leave behind
Doubt and anger clouded any happiness I'd find
Your gentle voice of wisdom lead me to a higher ground
Trusting in your care for me is the sweetest joy I've found

I just want to thank you, thank you for your loving' ways
Thank you for the little things that brighten up each day
Thank you for the tougher times that teach me how to pray
Thank you for your grace that helps me run this race
Thank you (thank you)

Life can be hard
Sometimes I think it might break me
But a promise was made
That you would never forsake me

I just want to thank you, thank you for your loving' ways
Thank you for the little things that brighten up each day
Thank you for the tougher times that teach me how to pray
Thank you for your grace that helps me run this race
Thank you (thank you)
