"Triumph: Next N' Game"

At the age of 9, Triumph knew that he wanted to be an artist. Born on the Eastern Shores of Virginia and raised in Newport News, Triumph fell in love with R&B and Jazz. With a desire to write short stories, poetry and then music, he began his journey as an artist.

With his first pushed Solo track, “Wish You Well”, comes with a story of his start as a solo artist: “I started in a group called 50/50. We were on the radio, doing shows, we even opened up for Chris Brown in 2006. After that, we just knew our careers were going to take off…. The group split and I began my solo career.” Due to some disagreements between management and producers, the group split. “I wanted to respond in a positive. I wanted to let them know I wished them well.”

Signed and still working with EntaPrize Entertainment, LLC, Triumph has created his own name and brand: “You don’t have to be a stereotypical person to make good music and relate to people. I’ve done things that I’m not proud of but I don’t have to glorify that. I think everybody has a story. I think that we had a few more positive role models our generation would be more positive.”

“I’m never gonna glorify my negative past.” Believing that we can help and change our generation, Triumph believes in sending out a positive message to people. “It’s not about who sells the most drugs or shoots the most dudes. I don’t wanna hear music that I can’t relate to. I don’t wanna try to follow a script that these other entertainers have just to sell a record.”

Triumph doesn’t want to just stick with the rap game. He has a strong desire and hunger to embark in different talents. “I want to create a multi-taskful brand. I want expand into acting, writing, directing, fashion and embark in entertainment as a whole.” He really wants to be a jack of all trades. “I’ve always been called a Renaissance man and been good with multi-tasking”

“One thing that people need to know is the day I fell in love with music, I was no older than 5 or 6 years old. The song by Lisa Fisher titled “How Can I Ease the Pain”. I’d be dead asleep and I would wake up and sing all the words, and then fall back asleep. When I’m not in my entertainment role I am a homebody and love to spend time with my family.”

Currently he is working on his first album, “Boiling Point”, which he is hoping to have released in November of 2010. His main focus of that album at this point is 2 singles; “Wish You Well” and “That’s My Jam” feat. Munee. “I wanna give a shout out to Crossed Over Entertainment and Q the Question who together have helped get Wish You Well swung in the right direction.”

Triumph is also competing for a spot in the Fame Tour, which if he wins, he will tour the United Kingdom Aside from that he will be involved in a concert at Princess Anne High School in Virginia Beach on September 12th sponsored by Z-104 radio! for 3 weeks!

"Triumph- Wish You Well"

I am really really liking this song right now. The beat gets your head bobbing right away and the hook/chorus is so catchy that you sing along with it right away.

Triumph has spent the last ten years of his life in Newport News, Virginia on a constant grind to place his mark upon the music industry. Rapping since the age of 12, he began his career in the duo “50/50?, produced by 50 Cent’s “Wanksta Producer “Jae Praez. Later changing their name to South City, the duo would go on to open shows for Soulja Boy, Trey Songz, Chris Brown, Fat Joe, Ashanti, G-Unit, and Hoobastank. After several years with the group, Triumph decided to embark on his own musical journey and began to build his Entaprize Entertainment brand. - Its A Rap

"Artist Spotlight: Triumph of Entaprize Entertainment"

TM: Thank you for taking time out for participating in this interview it’s a pleasure to be able to speak with you today. This interview is special to me because I’ve personally been following this guy and his group for a few months now. Let’s go ahead and start with the introductions, please tell us your name.

Triumph: My name is Triumph, formally of the hip hop duo 50/50 which later switched names to South City! I’ve been a solo artist now since 2006, and I’ve been CEO of Entaprize Entertainment, LLC since 2003! The meaning of my name means to win, its VICTORY!!

TM: Where are you from?

Triumph: I’m from a small town called Painter, and after that I moved a lil’ bit of everywhere, but I landed in Bad Newz, (Newport News) been here for 13 years and I love it here!

TM: What are the names of your artists?

Triumph: Whewww I got a lot of those! Munee, Marveluz, A, Fre$h, $paid, and Lano!

TM: What is your music background and how long have you been rapping?

Triumph: My music background starts off kind of different from the average artist! I really couldn’t listen to hip hop until I was around 11 or 12 years old. However, I loved r & b and jazz music, maybe because that’s all that my mother and father would play around me. I use to hum melodies all the time, so much until the point that I started creating my own. Until one day, my aunt bought me the Harlem World cd by Mase, No way out by Puff Daddy and the Family, When Disaster Strikes by Busta Rhymes, and Volume 2 by Jay-Z. I think that’s the day I fell in love with hip hop! I’ve been rapping since I was 13, so ten years now, and I’ve gotten better as the day goes!

TM: What motivates you?

Triumph: I’m motivated by the simple things like family, friends, loyalty, and love!

TM: What is the name of your current album?

Triumph: My current album is titled “In Between Blessings.”

TM: Do you write your own songs?

Triumph: Lmao, of course I do, and if you don’t you shouldn’t consider yourself a “TRUE” artist! I hope nobody takes offense.

TM: How do you describe your music to people?

Triumph: A lot of people classify their music in genres, not me. It’s real simple with me! Either you make good music, or you don’t. Either you feel the music, or it has no life at all! I’d rather people feel what I’m saying because it’s my life! So to describe my music in one word, I make “Lifelong” music.

TM: What are your songs about and what image do you think your music conveys?

Triumph: My songs are about my life and my dreams and I hope my music conveys a sense of passion that I have for the one thing that gets me through every day besides the Lord, music!

TM: Is this your first interview or do you have some other articles/stories or video links about you posted somewhere for public viewing?

Triumph: Yes and no! You can find my videos and live performances at my YouTube page, which is youtube.com/triumphetp1 and hoodcelebritytv.ning.com. No this is not my first interview, I have an article coming up with Exclusive Magazine, shoutout to Joe Rugby aka Rugz.

TM: Who are your musical influences?

Triumph: I’m going to just name a few because it’s so many. I would say Tupac for his passion for music, Jay-z for his classic body of work. Marvin Gaye for his soul and Eminem for his assassin-like lyrical ability and if I could only name one more it might be strange, but I’d have to say Lisa Fischer, because the very first song I fell in love with was “Ease the pain.”

TM: How do you differ from other artists upcoming and mainstream and do you share any similarities?

Triumph: I differ from other artists because I’m not afraid to be confident about just being me. A lot of people spend time basing their life off what other people think they should do, or how they should sound, or how they should look, and I ain’t the one for that! I’m only similar to the artists that are in love with “music”. Truthfully, not for monetary value, but just because I wouldn’t make it through a day without “some” form of music, it would feel weird like its “too quiet” lol.

TM: Have any of your songs been published and have you affiliated with a performance rights organization like ASCAP, BMI, SESAC?

Triumph: Yes, I had a record published in 2005 titled “you think you hard” published under ASCAP, and I’m still currently a member of ASCAP.

TM: Are you looking for an independent label deal or a major label deal?

Triumph: I’m more so shopping myself for an independent label deal for my music company Entaprize Entertainment, LLC, but I’ll get in where I fit in.

TM: What live performance experience have you had? Where?

Triumph: I’ve performed at over 40 or 50 different venues some bars, some clubs, some stadiums, a lil’ bit of everything. I definitely know how to control the stage.

TM: Where can fans buy your music?

Triumph: Itunes, Emusic, Limewire store, Amazon mp3, Shock Hound, Rhapsody, etc. Whe - TwitterMugshot.com

TRIUMPH

Marcellous Triumph Mapp has been consistently leaving his mark on the music industry for the past 12 years. Being bounced around from Grandparents house to his parents house, he finally found his home with his Mother at the Age of 8 years old. Newport News, Virginia has been the home that raised and taught Triumph how to survive. Being the man of the household and the eldest of 3 brothers(on his fathers side) built a leadership quality about Triumph at a very early age. He always had a way with words and quickly realized that performing in front of people is something that became second nature to him. Writing poetry and short stories at the age 11 turned into in to writing songs and battle raps by the age of 13 where he won his first rap battle.

Triumph became the talk of the town shortly after he teamed up with his childhood friend Mark Talent Williams forming a group called 50/50. After the release of the debut mixtape Boot Camp, the duo began to open up for multiple mainstream artist such as Chris Brown, Trey Songz, Fat Joe, G-Unit, Ashanti, and many more. The duo grew apart as they matured and Triumph pursued as an entrepreneur creating a group and Indie label called Entaprize Entertainment. Consisting of artists such as Munee, Fresh, and Marveluz Entaprize began to build their brand by winning multiple showcases including the most recent one in Brooklyn, NY sponsored by AdtheGeneral.

Triumph was nominated for SMES Male Artist of the year in 2010 and has also been nominated along with his artist Munee for Top Ten artist of the Year in the Hood Elegant Program. Currently pushing the pre album Boiling Point Triumph plans to release a joint mixtape with Munee and also a Entaprize mixtape by the beginning of summer. ETP (Entaprize) is currently promoting their new single and visual titled GO. The Triumph record featuring Munee soared to over 8000 views on VladTV in just 6 days. Thats not even including the thousands of views that is has on You tube. The record even got the attention of Redman and Method Man as ETP toured along with the for several shows before the duo headed overseas. Influenced heavily by artist like Jayz and Tupac, Triumph displays passion along with catchy wordplay to get his point across to the public. Triumph is often compared to Ludacris with his witty flows, but he stands alone with the combination of multiple styles that combines in an almost perfect blend of soul music. He was also seen performing live along side with Munee on BETs 106 and Park "Wild Out Wednesday" on January 4, 2012, which they won and then again on the same show August 23, 2012 in which they won again!
