Eoghan Colgan

BandRockSinger/Songwriter

Eoghan writes acoustic ballads and anthemic pop tunes with classic, timeless melodies, inspiring, heartfelt lyrics and sung with one of the most celebrated voices in the UK and Ireland.

Biography

Eoghan is a doctor and singer-songwriter from Northern Ireland. Whilst working in a bush hospital in Africa in 1998 he contracted a near-fatal dose of malaria. His only comfort was a cassette given to him by his brother before he left. On this was an album that changed his life. Jeff Buckley's 'Grace'. On his return, Eoghan, new to singing and songwriting, endlessly tried to cover some of Jeff Buckleys songs. With a voice now endlessly compared to Jeff Buckley, it seems his near death experience has shaped Eoghans whole musical life.

"The Jeff Buckley-esqe agility of his voice made for a quietly enthralling curtain-raiser" Q Magazine
"One heck of a voice" Jim Gellatly, BBC Scotland
"Eoghan has a God-given talent, that being his incredible voice. With the right help and development he could go on to sell millions of albums" Amanda Ghost (President of Epic Records and co-author of Jame's Blunts 'You're Beautiful")

In 2007 Eoghan stunned some key industry experts in London with his performance which would award him the O2 Undiscovered music bursary for being the most exciting new act in the UK. He has since shared stages with Tom Jones, the Manic Street Preachers, Athlete, Hard Fi and Kate Nash. He has performed at huge events including the Q Magazine Awards Launch Party at the O2 Arena in London, The Wireless Festival in Hyde Park, The Grazia Magazine Awards Ceremony in London, The Scottish Fashion Awards Ceremony in Stirling Castle, the Mobie Phone World Conference in Barcelona and the Guinness 250 Arthurs Day Celebration in Dublin. He has released two singles on his own label (Eject Records) which have been playlisted on dozens of nationwide radio stations including RTE1 in Ireland and BBC Scotland. One of the most consistently popular acts in his adopted Glasgow, Eoghan has recently completed tours through the UK and also America to rave reviews. Eoghan has also recently completed the full soundtrack to a new independent British Movie starring a host of British Theatrical Legends as well as a first-time actor - 'Strictly Come Dancings' Len Goodman, making his debut cameo performance.

Lyrics

Breathe (Tsunami Disaster)

Written By: Eoghan Colgan

Come take my hand
I can't breathe, I can't see nothing
My life is in your hands

And I'll lift you up
You and me we're locked in motion
A time that's best forgot

Come hold me, and control me
And you holding my hand
She starts to scream but has no one to hold her
And I just don't understand
And I stare with my head in my hands
It's the way life can be

Two worlds collide
The bodies strewn across the ocean
A sight to numb the mind

And then they'll say
It's time for doing something special
But then They'll turn away

Come hold me, and control me
And you holding my hand
She starts to scream but has no one to hold her
And I just don't understand
And I stare with my head in my hands
It's the way life can be

And then I'll try to take you on
But it still feels like you're holding me
I scream and shout it gets me nowhere
And then she says "what will be will be"

I said "No Way", you said "Breathe!"

Come hold me, and control me
And you holding my hand
She starts to scream but has no one to hold her
And I just don't understand
And I stare with my head in my hands
It's the way life can be

I said "No Way", you said "Breathe!"
I said "No Way", you said "Breathe!"

Emma's Song

Written By: Eoghan Colgan

Please forgive me, won't you ever help me out
The pressures building and I'm crumbling, cause I'm wracked with doubt
All I want, All I need, yeah
Please forgive me, won't you ever help me out

A priceless lights best shining out
And I need to let it out
But my time is now
And I want to scream it out

Cause all I want, and all I need is here
And all I want and all I need is here

Please forgive me won't you ever help me out
My palms are sweaty, I take a deep breath in and a slow breath out
All I want, all I need, yeah
Please forgive me, won't you ever help me out

A priceless lights best shining out
And I need to let it out
But my time is now
And I want to scream it out

Cause all I want, and all I need is here
And all I want and all I need is here
