Windsor Junction, NS – Nova Scotia rapper Mark Walker aka EPDMC was recently named the recipient of SET SAIL: The Alex Gillespie Music Fund. The Fund is in honour of Alex Gillespie, who died at age 17 after being hit by a Toronto Transit Commission bus in Toronto, on August 20, 2010.

Alex had roots in Nova Scotia, having visited his relatives in Waverley often while growing up. Alex’s grandparents also resided here. When SET SAIL was first established, the Waverley community contributed generously. Renowned hip-hop artist Classified is an Honorary Patron of SET SAIL. The purpose of SET SAIL is to provide aspiring musicians with assistance tailored to their particular needs. Awards are open to performers, composers, technicians, producers and music managers in all genres. lex’s goal was to be a music producer, and SET SAIL is his legacy. SET SAIL congratulates EPDMC.
