Not every teenager gets to show off her new album to her friends. But 13-year-old Armuchee resident Erica Ray will be doing just that on Saturday at the launch of "Home Grown", the local singer's latest music venture. While still a student at Armuchee Middle School, Erica spent her days in the classroom and her nights in the studio laying down 10 tracks that range from country to honky-tonk to pop. "Our family wrote most of the songs." said Doug, Erica's father. But possibly the biggest thing is that probably the number one song writer in Nashville, Monty Powell, wrote a song for her." Doug and Erica's brother Brad wrote songs on the album. Erica wrote three songs including "On My Own," which she penned when she was nine years old. But the album's third track, "Livin Out Loud" is what Erica is most excited about. Powell is a Nashville songwriter who has written hits for such names as Keith Urban, Lee Ann Womack, Diamond Rio and Tim McGraw. Erica met Powell when they both performed at an Alzheimer's Association benefit in Calhoun. The album was recorded by Ben McRee of Rome's The Temple studios. - Severo Avila

Bio
I began singing at a very early age. I've always been told that I have a very strong and unique voice and have been compared with artists such as Martina McBride and LeAnn Rimes. Although I am a young artist, I grew up listening to and admiring the work of Loretta Lynn, Patsy Cline, Aretha Franklin, Etta James and many other wonderful artists. I feel that I have been gifted and love to share my gift with others. As often as I can, I take part in charity fundraisers and donate to charities such as the Cancer Association and the Alzheimer's Association. I enjoy playing guitar, singing, and writing my own music. I wrote my first song which I recorded called "On My Own" at age 9. My goal is to become an excellent entertainer! I hope to have the opportunity to work with some of the great musicians very soon. The #1 songwriter in Nashville TN. Monty Powell has written a special song just for me on my new album HomeGrown. He has written hits for Keith Urban, Rascal Flatts and many others. I have also been ask to perform at Riverbend in Chattanooga the past two years. My career is on the rise, I hope to get to perform for you.
