"Quoted from Berklee Professors"

Quotes about Erica Stenquist from various Berklee professors:

"Erica, your voice... it does what Annie Lennox and Fiona Apple try to do and fail..." -Mark Shilansky (Arranging class; Jan. 30th, 2009.)

“Erica embodies the type of student we hope to attract to Berklee. A unique song stylist with an impressive emotional range, she is also a gifted composer who commands a wide variety of musical styles…She impressed me from the start as one of the most talented and hard-working students I have seen in ten years of teaching at Berklee…In addition to strong leadership abilities, she also exhibits much personal warmth and generosity of spirit…This talented young woman is already firmly on a career track, and is sure to find success as a vocalist, composer, and performer…”

-Berklee Professor Diane (Didi) Stewart.

“This is a very special, prized member of our community, in my opinion. Erica is one of our jewels, in that she is everything we cherish: talented, no doubt, but also hard working, energetic, a team player, eager to learn anything we have to offer her, and committed working in the community as well…Erica is doing it all. Frankly, I don’t know how she finds the time, but I am so inspired by all that she does. I was happy to see that she was one of the Voice Department’s choices for a Vocal Achievement Award this spring… This is a student who absolutely enhances the lives of all of us…”

-Berklee Professor Janie Barnett

“Erica, you are a special singer. I don’t know if I have ever been as moved in a proficiency as I was by your [rendition of the song] ‘Time Is A Healer’…”

-Berklee Professor David Scott.

"JuneBugReview.com Reacts to Erica's Song."

"Erica, I'm glad I actually took a minute to listen to your music.

Wow!

I paused in the middle of "Needing a Change" when I realized I needed to give this song some justice, rigged my tube amp to my maudio card, and plugged up the B&W's, and I got goosebumps. "Let Yourself Fall" is ahhh I just love it." - Film Critic/Head Writer for JuneBugReview.com

Bio

"Erica, your music is so soulful... and sexy...I love your phrasing..." - John Mayer (October, 2008).

Boston-based artist Erica Stenquist’s sound can be described as: Earthy-Soul Songwriter Music, meshing artists like Alicia Keys, Eva Cassidy and Sara Bareilles. Erica brings together Jazz, Soul, and warm Acoustic tones into a smooth and uniquely poetic voice. Her heartfelt lyrics and vocals take us on an emotional journey, during which she holds no part of herself back. Erica's unique, powerful message and catchy melodies are sure to stay with you long after the song has ended – just ask one of her listeners…

Right now you can find Erica in Boston, most likely on a long walk by the Charles River between classes at the Berklee College of Music, watching the sun sparkle on the water and contemplating what her next song will sound like.

A senior at the school, Erica is well known for her achievements- among them being chosen to work personally alongside famous recording artist John Mayer during his recent weeklong stay at the college. She was also been awarded the prestigious Vocal Department Achievement Award, which is reserved for the top 5% of students at Berklee.

Paving the road to her musical career, before coming to Berklee, Erica sang in a background choir for famous pop-country recording artist Jo Dee Messina on two occasions. Erica spent four years as a member of the New England Conservatory of Music’s (NEC) select Chorale. During this time she experienced the honor of singing a solo song at the legendary Hatch Shell in Boston, MA, as well as a performance at Boston’s historical Symphony Hall with famous folk artist Judy Collins.

Erica is an extremely versatile, and collaborative artist with both a talent for the stage and a keen ear for production. A motivated professional, and yet a down-to-earth, thrill-of-the-moment girl at heart. Erica is inspired by how deeply music can touch others and is filled with a passion to use her lyrics and melodies to make a difference.
