Eric Baines is a passionate singer/songwriter who has a familiar yet fresh approach to writing pop/rock songs. Eric comes from a diverse musical background which very much influences his writing and singing and his live show should not be missed.

Biography

For singer/songwriter/producer, Eric Baines, a dive bar is a familiar place. He began his career in the dive bars of Denver, CO where he grew up playing blues, top 40, jazz, country and whatever else anyone would pay him to play, sometimes scraping by on $25 a night. In the title track of his new CD, “Dive Bar Rock Star!”, he sings about the good side of his experiences and the feeling you get when the work day is done and you can retreat to a place where nobody can tell you what to say. “You don’t have to be a musician to be a Dive Bar Rock Star!” declares Baines.

His new CD was released on August 18th, 2009 on ericbaines.com. It was accompanied by a music video of the title track directed by award winning director and “High School Musical” star, Lucas Grabeel. On September 14th, 2009 Eric Baines will kick off the CD release at the Viper Room in Hollywood with his rocking band of L.A. musicians and some special guests. Tickets are $8 with a flyer.

If you like to party then you’ll like Eric Baines. His live show is just that. “I don’t want people to come to my shows, I want them to join my party”, says Baines. His music has been described as Weezer meets John Mayer with a shot of Jagermeister. That combination provides an interesting mix of moods on his CD. It will take you from a rocking party to a romantic, one night stand. Some songs are very heart filled and emotional and right when you’re ready to tear up Baines picks it back up again. He guides you through this journey quite comfortably, however, with his soulful and unique voice and it is quite a ride indeed. This album is lyrically very diverse, too. Baines gives us an honest (sometimes really honest) glimpse into his life but has a way of making them intriguing, desperate, sexy and sometimes hilarious but always entertaining. His self deprecating charm lures you in every time.

This new CD is his second solo release and marks a new beginning for Baines who has spent most of his career as a sideman backing many chart topping artists. Although he started in dive bars he worked his way up to playing arenas and stadiums as the bass player for the “High School Musical” concert tours which featured Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, Lucas Grabeel and Corbin Bleu. He went on to play in Bleu’s solo band for three tours. He’s also toured with Drew Seeley, Melissa Manchester, Debelah Morgan, and with jazz artists like Keiko Matsui, Lee Ritenour and Gregg Karukas. But being a sideman was never quite satisfying enough for Baines and this CD is his turn to make his music.

“Dive Bar Rock Star!” was produced by Baines and much of it was recorded in his house in Los Angeles, CA where he now resides. His music has been featured in many TV shows on MTV, VH1, NBC and most recently on an episode of HBO’s “Real Sex”. He was quite proud of that one. He’s also produced songs for Corbin Bleu and Rudy Cardenas from American Idol.

It’s been a winding journey for Eric Baines and this album captures the energy and spirit of this veteran performer. For more information go to ericbaines.com or contact him on Facebook, Twitter, myspace.com/ericbaines or reverbnation.com/ericbaines.

Lyrics

Dive Bar Rock Star!

Written By: Eric Baines

Most of all I hate the part
Where I keep my cool, shut out my heart
It’s a stupid game that I don’t want to play

There’s a place where I can go
Where I’m the star and It’s my show
And nobody can tell me what to say

I’m gonna turn up loud and Rock the band
With my guitar, some booze and a one night stand

Cuz I’m a dive bar Rock star!
All of the light are on me
Yeah I’m a dive bar Rock star!
Get all my drinks for free
Yeah I’m a dive bar Rock star!
Dive bar Rock star!

Don’t look back, avoid the trap
I tell myself this useless crap
But in the end I just fall anyway

I’ll be happy soon enough
When I free myself from all this stuff
And let the music drown it all away

I can’t wait to turn up loud and Rock the band
With my guitar, some booze and a one night stand

Cuz I’m a dive bar Rock star!
All of the light are on me
Yeah I’m a dive bar Rock star!
Get all my drinks for free
Yeah I’m a dive bar Rock star!
Dive bar Rock star!

Fill Me Up To The Top

Written By: Eric Baines

6 shots of Jager and I’m missing you
It’s been an hour since I texted you
You haven’t responded and I worry
6 shots of Jager and I’m missing you

9 shots of Jager and I need you
It’s been a while since I’ve seen you
You are my lover, you’re my best friend
9 shots of Jager and I need you

Fill me up to the top
I’ll drink it down to the bottom
Everything that I’m not, I’ll become
And you’ll make me

12 shots of Jager and I feel you
It’s been too long and I know you
You’re checking your phone, and you’re feeling me
12 shots of Jager and I feel you

Fill me up to the top
I’ll drink it down to the bottom
Everything that I’m not, I’ll become
And you’ll make me

Most of the time I can drink all night
Pour me a glass and it treats me right
But once in a while when you are gone
The more I drink, the more I long for you

Fill me up to the top
I’ll drink it down to the bottom
Everything that I’m not, I’ll become
And you’ll make me

Kiss Me

Written By: Eric Baines

It was in late December you wore your Converse in the snow
But what you didn’t know was
I knew that you’d be coming and I shoveled so your path was clear
It was such a cold year

I drove you home at night
And I bought you Starbuck’s
You told you were scared the world was gonna end so come on

Please baby, baby kiss me
‘Cause I’ve been waiting such a long, long time
How can you still resist me?
If I’m wrong then cut the line
But if I’m right then tell me what I gotta do

We hung out all last Summer, we shared the hammock you and me
Beneath the back yard trees
I got so many phone calls, Kristina, Julie, Jenny Brown
And I turned them all down

I walked you ‘round the lake
And I bought you ice cream
You told me you felt so at home when you’re with me so come on

Please baby, baby kiss me
‘Cause I’ve been waiting such a long, long time
How can you still resist me?
If I’m wrong then cut the line
But if I’m right then tell me what I gotta do

I don’t wanna be just friends
I don’t wanna be just friends
I don’t wanna be your friend
Oops! I didn’t mean to say that

Chorus
