Eric Hamelin's band came up next to give the windows along the room a big tremor. Eric Hamelin once again brings out his powerplant of a voice and rattles the crowd. First time attendees to this artist performance quickly caught on to the witty mixture of folk, rock, classical and rhythm.

"Eric Hamelin concert review"

7 Aôut 2007
(ENGLISH TRANSLATION BELOW)

August 7th 2007

Eric Hamelin presented his brand new solo effort last night at Le Petit Medley.
À week ahead of the premiere, he confess that this effort takes up all of his time lately. The result: A performance as fluid and as impeccable as youcan find. A show hard to categorize, homogenous mixture of originals and covers taken from a musical research who takes its roots from the fusion of genres and sounds very intriguing without being pretentious. Backed up by great musicians with impressive skills, he's voice sometimes soft and deep other times strong and vibrant and emotional comes in perfect harmony with each song. It says it all when Eleanor Rigby is included in the set list. In the intimate environment of Le Petit Medley, the crowd in attendance couldn't have asked for more. It's not everyday that you see a performer who has as much succes with its original songs as well as his interpretation of classical masterpieces. HIghlights, the interpretation of In you eyes from Peter Gabriel with only one guitar and a single voice. All in all, a memorable night. If you missed it you can still catch the show tonight and tomorrow. - Journal Le VOIR

"Eric Hamelin Live at La Tulipe Oct. 24th 2007"

An intense orgasm of rhythm and melody is what you can call Eric HAmelin'S performance on October 24th at La Tulipe. Eric scooped the packed up crowd that night its their sphere of emotional melodies and raw energy. There's no need for warm-up time as singer Eric Hamelin attacks right away the front stage and begins to orchestrate the audience's energy like a maestro. One great tune after another, the band definitively displayed a unique sound, mixing Folk rock, funk and classical. Into the night, the singer songwriter gave the crowd a chance to catch their breath a bit with a soothing acoustic piece. If you think this will lead on to a slow down of the set, then think again. One of the most memorable pieces I have ever witnessed at a live show was the empowering neo-rhythm "tam tam" piece called "Last Day". Eric joins his musicians as he picks up the djembe and that’s when the crowd lost all control. With that kind of energy I'm sure the party could have went on all night. Like all good things, it came to an end but surely leaving the spectators panting for more. - CBC Radio
