"Patriotic Concert Honors Veterans"

July 25, 2003. Hundreds of veterans, from World War II to the Persian Gulf War, crowded into the riverfront to listen to the patriotic music of Lone Oak native Eric Horner. Before the concert, the veterans received a standing ovation as they walked to the stage to receive medallions donated by Eric & Debby Horner.

The 250 medallions went quickly, and additional medals were ordered for veterans who left without one. "This makes me feel proud," said Korean War veteran Danny Davidson of Kevil, shortly after the medallion was placed around his neck. "The veterans of the country have long deserved this, especially the Vietnam veterans. They got a bad deal."

Horner performed songs from his patriotic CD, "Freedom Rings," and his gospel CD "Prayer Warrior," which was released Tuesday. Horner also sang "She Is A Hero," which some people mistakenly believe he wrote for Pfc. Jessica Lynch. Horner is scheduled to perform in Lynch's home county Aug. 7 at the Wirt County (W.Va.) Fair. "Anytime I get to do something for veterans is special for me," Horner said before the concert. "There are a lot of them here. This has been like old home week."

"I just appreciate where we live. We are in the land of the free. God has been good to us."

"Titusville, FL - Indian River Festival"

April 27, 2005
Singer big hit at Indian River Festival

Sitting around a beautiful swimming pool with the moon fast gaining brilliance during the late afternoon, one could not help but be impressed with the music of Eric Horner.

Guests at the sponsor's reception of "Celebrate Life -- Main Street Parrish Medical Center," held at the Rambling Acres home of Randy and Mary Coleman, braved a cool wind, but responded to each of his selections.

One could almost believe they were in Branson, Mo., because so many of the programs at the various theatres there include much of the theme of Horner's music -- patriotism and religion.

He was there with his wife, Debby, who was at the controls of the sound system, and it was very apparent they make a great team.

Horner was the featured entertainer at the previous night's special music "Celebrate America" program of the Indian River Festival.

While here, he did the first public presentation of "Those Who Dare to Dream," which he wrote at the request of the Titusville Area Chamber of Commerce to honor the return to space flight scheduled in May.

"Dare To Dream" is the featured song on his 2005 limited edition and very patriotic "Those Who Dare to Dream" album, which also includes "Celebrate America," "On the Wings of Eagles," "America the Beautiful," "The Star Spangled Banner," "God Bless America" and several other songs.

The events of Sept 11, 2001 left a big impact on Horner and his wife especially Debby, because her first husband was killed in the 1983 bomb blast in Lebanon, in which 241 Marines and sailors were lost. It was on Sept. 11 that he composed "We Will Stand," which became a much-requested single on country radio stations across the country.

While Horner was growing in popularity on country stations after "We Will Stand," he made the decision to resume his career in full-time ministry music.

He has produced much religious music in addition to his patriotic albums. "Prayer Warrior" is the title of one such album, which also includes "When Jesus Mentions My Name," "What I Believe" and "I'll Be Glory Bound."

Another album. "You Can Always Come Home," includes such titles as "A Father's Prayer," "The Third Day" and "He Is Greater Than My Need."

However, in his appearance at the festival and at the reception, patriotism was the main focus.

Horner and Lee Greenwood, a featured entertainer at a previous Indian River Festival, recently re-recorded Greenwood's the hit "God Bless The USA" and when Horner sang it, the audience responded by quickly jumping to their feet and joining in. That's the effect it has on most people.

"Freedom Rings Concert"

Eric Horner's music has taken him from Lone Oak to Nashville, Tenn., to space and back to Paducah.

At NASA's request, Horner, a Lone Oak native and Christian and patriotic musician, is recording this week a song he wrote for the agency called "Those Who Dare to Dream." Saturday, he will return to Paducah as part of the second annual Freedom Rings celebration.

The celebration, featuring music by Horner, free hot dogs and drinks, children's games and awards to veterans, will be from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday in front of Christian Supply House on Irvin Cobb Drive.

"We're going to acknowledge and appreciate those who put themselves in harm's way for the rest of us," said Arnie Puckett, owner of Christian Supply House, the celebration's sponsor.

People are invited to bring their lawn chairs to set up in the parking lot.

Freedom Rings had originally been scheduled for July 3 but was postponed because of the threat of rain, Puckett said.

Horner was an easy choice to headline the celebration for the second year. "Eric's just got a passion for the military," Puckett said. "He's a very patriotic individual, and he does it just because he enjoys it. He's not doing it because he's getting paid, because he's not getting paid Saturday."

Horner's music has been getting wide national attention recently through American Family Radio, which has more than 200 stations in 33 states.

The network just completed a one-hour interview with Horner about his new patriotic CD, titled "The Call." It also includes an interview with Paducah Vietnam veteran David Bradshaw, who is helping to organize the celebration, and Daniel Vorja, an active duty soldier from Nashville who recently served in Iraq.

"The Call" is Horner's fourth patriotic music album. The celebration is the namesake of his last album, "Freedom Rings." He will debut music from "The Call" at the celebration.

"The Call" features music written by Horner as well as classic American standards such as "The Battle Hymn of the Republic" and "America the Beautiful."

"It features songs for Vietnam veterans, for the 101st Airborne (Division, based at Fort Campbell) and for all those who serve," Horner said.

The song "Never Again," is a follow-up to his popular song about Vietnam veterans called "Welcome Home," which was released Veterans Day 2002.

"It really addresses two issues," Horner said. "First of all, it addresses one of the mottoes among the veterans, which is 'Never again will one branch of the military service leave another behind.' Secondly, for the sake of those who are protecting our country right now, we must never let our country turn on them as it did on Vietnam veterans.''

Horner will also perform songs from his new Christian music CD, titled "You Can Always Come Home."

Horner said he was more than happy to participate in Freedom Rings again this year.

"I hope this is something that we can do for years to come," he said. "I really enjoy getting to come home and getting to give back something at home. There are so many who serve, so it's really an honor for me to be able to come and say thank you on behalf of my family and honor them in any way that we can."

Eric Horner Ministries

Dear Eric and Debby:

Thanks a million! I can’t say enough about how great the Celebrate America concert was this weekend at the Indian River Festival. It was a real pleasure to work with you both.

It’s only been a couple of days since you were here, but we’ve gotten lots of compliments on your performance. Everyone has given us rave reviews, from our main stage sponsor to our festival attendees.

You both went above and beyond to make this festival a huge success, and I am eternally grateful. This was a big milestone for us – the 30th annual Indian River Festival, and with your assistance, it was a great event. I was amazed at the time you took to gather people together for this concert and the level of detail you went to in order to make this a once in a lifetime event.

I hope that we have the opportunity to work together again. If I can be of any assistance to you in the future, please don’t hesitate to give me a call.

Sincerely,

Marcia Gaedcke

"The IHI Group - Recommendation"

To whom it may concern,

I have recently had the extreme pleasure of producing a show featuring Eric Horner. In my twenty years of show production, I have never enjoyed working with an artist as much as I enjoyed working with Eric. Mr. Horner was accommodating and flexible, working closely with my entire crew and even wrote a fresh song to fit our presentation. Eric and his wife worked with us faithfully for months to insure the success of the show, supplying all that we needed.

The show itself was incredible. Every cue, every scripted introduction and every song was exactly how we had planned it; what a joy! Eric has an incredible ability to reach out and touch the crowd. Our sponsors were more than pleased, and have even showed interest in a return show with Mr. Horner.

If you need any further details or recommendation, please feel free to contact me.

Sincerely,

Eddy Weiss / Producer

"Commander - Dept Of The Army"

Dear Mr. Horner,

I sincerely thank you for your inspirational concert at Fort Gordon, home of the Army Signal Center. Your music touched the heart of our soldiers and motivated many more in their calling to national service. From their conversations, I can state that your personal example and performance was a hit with the troops, particularly after you dedicated the "Voice of Victory" to the Signal Center and Fort Gordon. Our appreciation is renewed each time we hear it played.

It was also a pleasure meeting you and learning more about your purpose in music ministry. I was personally inspired to see members of our community - - hospitalized civilians, military retirees, and active duty soldiers alike -- united in yet another affirmation of the nobility of selfless service to America. In listening to you share your beliefs I can see that you also exemplify the original ideals and the freedoms we struggle to bring to others. I am convinced your efforts will enrich and encourage the patriotism of many other Americans.

Finally, your positive message and musical tribute to our soldiers significantly encouraged soldier's morale. It is worthy of our highest professional and patriotic traditions. I encourage to keep raising the "Voice of Victory" as an anthem to the dedication and commitment of the soldiers who selflessly serve God and our country.

Sincerely,

Lori L. Sussman

Bio

A native of Paducah, KY, Eric can trace his love of music back to the age of six, when he started strumming a tennis racket. Graduating to guitar shortly there-after, Eric began honing his craft under the teaching of multiple Dove Award winner Steven Curtis Chapman and spent his teenage years playing and singing in various Gospel groups around Western Kentucky. His talents quickly gained him access to playing for some of country musics top performers such as Lee Greenwood, Wynonna, Shania Twain and many others. Eric's self-penned, patriotic anthem "We Will Stand" took hold shortly after September 11, 2001 and was played on every reporting station around the U.S. raising thousands of dollars for the Staten Island Victims Relief Fund in NY.

Though Eric's roots run deep in country and southern Gospel, his music seems to cross every genre. "Every venue is different. There are so many musical directions available today. We strive to adapt to each venues musical preference while keeping the message consistently the same.

Eric's patriotic concerts are much in demand across America. Eric has toured the world with Artist Lee Greenwood on USO tours - but never really understood the sacrifices our military makes until he met his wife, Debby. Debby's former husband was killed in the Beirut, Lebanon bombing in 1983 that killed 241 Marines and Sailors. After watching Debby's reactions to the attacks on 9/11/2001 - Eric finally "got it"! His first patriotic song was born that night and the songs honoring and supporting this country and military continue to flow from his pen. With 12 albums under his belt in 2006 - Eric Horner is well honed in his craft as a songwriter, Recording Artist and Performer. Whether you are looking for a full band - Patriotic concert or a worship service - Eric Horner delivers with his whole heart and weaves a story throughout the entire concert. Eric's concerts deliver the messages of: Jesus Christ, Patriotism, supporting Veterans & active military, good parenting, Marriage - all depending on the venue.
