Bio

The indie-blues band known as, Erick Serna and The Killing Floor, have released their debut album The Grip on September 20th. With an impressive passion for music you can feel the energy in each measure, each lyric, that will only leave you craving more.

Erick Serna began his musical obsession in 1997 when he found “the one”, a sunburst colored guitar. After a trek to LA and back he found his place touring in the Boston band, The Dear Hunter. After five years of countless national tours, one Australian tour and being part of the writing and recording of two full-length records and a number of EPs, Serna decided it was his time to branch off and pave his own way musically.

“It was time for me to explore my own musical identity and to try to pay homage to the stuff that has always inspired me musically – raw and dirty blues”.

By early 2011 Serna called on friends and former band-mates Cliff Sarcona and Sammy Dent to help him complete what would soon be his debut full-length record. After long time friend Josh Rheault, of the band Mercies, finished restoring his family’s old barn into a full-fledged recording studio, everything came together. “I couldn’t think of a better place to record a dirty blues record than an old barn, so we got to work” states Serna. By the summer of 2011 the record was complete and so was born, Erick Serna and The Killing Floor.

“I’ve had this sound brewing in me for as long as I can remember and now that I have a chance to tap into it, I’m excited to see where it takes me” ?
