"New Haven Register, Top Albums of 2009"

“Owl,” Eric Lichter — We here at Weekend simply can’t get enough of Eric Lichter’s solo material. Simply put, the man would be a huge star if he was just doing this in 1970’s California. Lichter knows his way around an earthy, country-leaning singer/songwriter tune. “Owl” is a welcome step forward, one filled with stellar, warm and deceptively complex moments.-Pat Ferrucci,New Haven Register..The Best Albums of 2009....Pat Ferrucci,New Haven Register

Bio

It's a little bit funny to think of two comets crashing in space. When you sit and wonder over it long enough you tend to conclude it as an inconsequential unreality. But indeed, like two cosmic chunks of junk , Eric and Sandra collided in 2005 and have been inextricably intertwined since. Eric, a musical product of random luck, picked up a guitar in his childhood and simply played, never enduring lessons, training, rehearsal or practice....just simply played. Sandra, in contrast, waited until the frustration of singing along while others played boiled over at age 21 to pick up the guitar for the first time. Eric's work is laced with the rich textures of his many mastered instruments. His lyrics are heartfelt with a generous dollop of humor and whimsy. Sandra's best work to date is solitary and haunting story telling that recounts her struggles and successes with honesty and simplicity. They share influences like Neil Young, Jackson Browne, Dan Fogelberg, CSN, Joni Mitchell and Townes Van Zandt. Before opening their funky analog recording studio in Chester, CT, Dirt Floor, Eric toured with several national acts and did studio work with renowned artists Carly Simon and Jerry Marotta. Sandra, the lone siren of Roving Gambler Records, Los Angeles, CA released her first studio album, Flowers and Wounds shortly after Eric's debut album Chorduroy. The couples mutual musical admiration quickly evolved into a deep and lasting love. The Lichter's have since recorded follow up albums in their own studio, Eric's OWL and Sandra's Apples and Jesus and are eagerly anticipating the release of a recently recorded live album, Die On The Diamond, performed by Sandra and engineered and produced by Eric at Dirt Floor. Seeing the couple present their music is truly a magical experience. You can feel the strong and impassioned love the two share. The emotion and intensity is honest and palpable. Individually they are unique and impressive...together they are unmatched and unforgettable.
