"Borough band set for big things"

Borough band set for big things
May 20 2010 Gwent Gazette

HAVE you seen Eric Unseen?

Whether the answer to that question is yes or no one thing is for certain, you will certainly be seeing a lot more of the borough band from now on.

The four piece have made it through to the finals of national music competition Live and Unsigned which will be held at London’s O2 arena.

Slade front man Noddy Holder, Radio 1 presenter Greg James and TV star Gail Porter are already confirmed to judge the contest and more than £75,000 in prizes are up for grabs for finalists. The winner will be offered a recording contract with Future Music, and up to a £30,000 investment. Tickets for the event, that takes place on Saturday, July 10, are available from www.ticketmaster.co.uk. - Gwent Gazette

"Eric Unseen@ Barfly Cardiff w/ The Automatic"

Firstly I have to apologise to opening act Gwent's Eric Unseen for missing the first half of their set, but I don't think the band were too worried I wasn't there as they appeared to have the crowd eating out of their hands when I arrived at the bar. Their infectious indie rock numbers winning over the crowd with ease, helped by the band's great stage presence, and the impromptu cover of Lady Ga Ga's hit 'Bad Romance' by Dan and Rhys whilst they overcame some minor technical difficulties proved these bunch of young hopefuls have a bright future ahead of them. - Uberrock

Bio

"Since the mines closed down and the chapels fell quiet, places like Tredegar in the South Wales valleys
haven’t offer much apart from one road going south and one going north. When your big Saturday night is
a trip to Blackwwood a town just slightly larger but still too small for the likes of the Manic Street Preachers,
you know you’re stuck somewhere east of nowhere and escape comes football or guitar shaped. Eric
Unseen were all crap at football…
Formed in March 2009 the band had been friends for years through various other acts. Dan had just
returned from London having spent a year around the canal-sides of Camden and the bars of Soho with
young neon-buzzing bohemians but finding it all tawdry and superfical. Bringing a bag full of songs inspired
by his experiences they got into fulltime rehearsals and were spotted by their management at their first
show who immiediately put them in studio with producer Richard Jackson (Super Furry Animals,
Automatic, Duffy) to record their first proper demos in August 2009.
Committed to the lost art of the pop song of Elvis Costello, Ray Davies and the Small Faces; fascinated by
the lives of Danny La Rue and Eric Morecambe (hence their name after the latter’s autobiography) and
destined to sparkle and shimmer across the radio waves, Eric Unseen will bring you sunshine !"
