BandFolk

You could classify us as an edgy adult-contemporary band with strong rock, blues, folk, and even country influences. Our songs are lyric driven, but everyone in the group is a great player. After our show, you will have laughed, danced and cried and will have bought our CD!

Biography

Eric Weinberg sings the blues … and the reds and the greens and every other color of the rainbow. This versatile singer/songwriter has performed across the country and across the ocean. Every time he steps behind a microphone Eric Weinberg offers up music and lyrics that touch the mind and embed in the heart.
Eric's new CD Get Back Up Again is an eclectic blend of adult-contemporary tunes with strong rock, blues, and country influences. It's part-autobiography, part absurdity. Songs like Sun's Gonna Shine and the title cut, Get back Up Again recall feelings of uncertainty and hope as Eric struggled to overcome a long and serious illness. Back Seat Becky introduces us to a woman with a gift for grins and sins. And the award-winning Military Road is a powerful, haunting story of loss.
Eric has won many prestigious song-writing awards. In addition he has  composed and arranged soundtracks for documentaries, videos and children's programs. Eric also has written musical satire for National Public Radio's
Morning Edition.

Eric Weinberg, a graduate of Berkelee College of Music, currently lives in Burke, Virginia just outside Washington, DC with his wife, Nora, his daughter Aisling, and his faithful labradoodle, Dallas.

His new CD Get Back Up Again is a glimpse into a rich past and a sneak preview of a promising future.

Sun's Gonna Shine

Written By: Eric Weinberg

I’ve been over and over a million times and I still don’t know what to do
I’ve been getting that sinking feeling again baby, every time I think of you
I’ve been pumping my gas and cleaning my windshield, checking my tires every day
I’ve been catching myself just holding my breath and wishing I could float away

Everything is bound to turn around somehow, I’ll be fine
Even if it sounds like rain outside, sun’s gonna shine
Sun’s gonna shine

I’m not shaving these days as much as I used to, it’s hard enough to get out of bed
I keep waking up staring at the curve in your pillow, remembering what you said
You’re still the girl that I first knew, never want to change you, I wouldn’t even know where to start
Honey, I live for your smiles and die in between them, I die in between them

Everything is bound to turn around somehow, I’ll be fine
Even if it sounds like rain outside, sun’s gonna shine
Sun’s gonna shine

Military Road

Written By: Eric Weinberg

She walks down Military Road
With a fist full of flowers she can barely hold
She wants to make the corner look fine
And show the town what she left behind

People say, “now aint that sweet
Pretty flowers on this beat up street.”
But they don’t know what it all means
Every petal and stem is more than it seems

Military Road, one flower at a time
One day we’ll all be fine, maybe when we get old
Military Road, it gets me every time
I see the sun shine on the flowers on
Military Road

Three doors down in the upstairs hall
There’s a room that hasn’t changed at all
It’s been two years now going on ten
She’s turned the handle but never walked in

Military Road, one flower at a time
One day we’ll all be fine, maybe when we get old
Military Road, every days the same
Since her little boy became just some flowers on
Military Road

Backseat Becky

Written By: Eric Weinberg and Vinny Roth

She's got a streamlined 69 cherry red coupe deville
I saw it rocking back and forth, up and down on lover's hill
One of these days I'm gonna find the will
I'm gonna jump inside, take a ride and get my thrill

She's built for fun in the third degree
Sometimes I think the lord made her just for me
If you're not sure she'll set the mood right
'Cause backseat Becky's never alone on a saturday night

I got the green light in my sight, check me out I'm dressed to kill
It's a knock down drag out, it's going down like Jack and Jill
One thing's for sure, she's a sure thing
Fogging up the windows with the heat she brings

She's built for fun in the third degree
Sometimes I think the lord made her just for me
If you're not sure she'll set the mood right
'Cause backseat Becky's never alone on a saturday night

High heels in the air, hair flying everywhere and "Brown Sugar's" on the radio
She's got the long nails digging out love trails
I got to cool down before I blow

Well I'm looking in the rearview wondering what should I do now
She's saying, "give me some more boy I'm ready for another round".
Well, sorry Miss Becky that's the best I can do
Was it good for me, cause it was damm good for you.

She's built for fun in the third degree
Sometimes I think the lord made her just for me
If you're not sure she'll set the mood right
'Cause backseat Becky's never alone on a saturday night

Beg

Written By: Eric Weinberg

15 I was 35, I was ripped crazy from the streets of love
Cigarettes and getting high, that's all I needed to get me by
I remember long nights under streetlights, looking cool when the cops go by
That was fine then for young Americans, couldn't give a shit about anything

All I need is some relief
Yeah, I get down on my knees
Got to beg, beg, beg

25 I was 18, I was wondering how I ever made it this far
I packed my bags and sold my car, then it was hard but I said goodbye
Little Eric across the water, living cool with my sweet sweet baby
Shoulda known it, could never sit still
I bet you anything I never will

All I need is some relief
Yeah, I get down on my knees
Got to beg, beg, beg

There are nights I catch on fire and I cant breathe
There are nights I catch on fire and I cant dream

All I need is some relief
Yeah, I get down on my knees
Got to beg, beg, beg

Virginia

Written By: Eric Weinberg

I think of you in a perfect light
my Virginia night, a work of art
Every curve is underneath my skin
and I'm walking to the rhythm of your heart
I just want to take you home, but I see the hesitation in your eyes
I know something's wrong I feel it in my bones, I wish I knew what to do

Oh my Virginia, I am exactly who I say I've been
Oh my Virginia, dont wake me up 'til you love me again
Oh Virginia

I'm going home, I really dont want to
I just gotta take my face from this place
Big dreams, empty promises had me rolling on the ground and that's not cool
But I'll be waiting, 'cause it's all that I can do
I got a picture, gotta card and a kiss from you
Dont you take too long, cause I just cant hold on. I cant hold on forever

Oh my Virginia, I am exactly who I say I've been
Oh my Virginia, dont wake me up 'til you love me again
Oh Virginia I love you

Tell the truth, tell the truth
I know, I know you feel it
Tell the truth, tell the truth
I never thought that you'd be the one that took me apart

I'm still in love with you, I'm really gonna miss you, oh Virginia

Get Back Up Again

Written By: Eric Weinberg

Dressed in black, walking across the graveyard grass
She's never coming back
Limousines are throwing their shadows on the greens
She's never coming back
I got your tears right here, I got your bad year

I'm falling down just to get back up again, get back up again
I'm falling down just to get back up again, get back up again

Left behind, how could you leave me with my mind
I know you tried and tried
Every night's just sleeping and waking up on time
God knows we tried and tried
Now I got a handful of dust and I got a heart that's crushed now

I'm falling down just to get back up again, get back up again
I'm falling down just to get back up again, get back up again

What are you waiting for
I dont want to hear about love and money and anything in between
I dont want to hear about love and money and anything in between

I'm falling down just to get back up again, get back up again
I'm falling down just to get back up again, get back up again

Get back up, get back up, get back up again

Break the Mold

Written By: Eric Weinberg

Somebody said just work hard, just work hard
Mind the store, you'll be fine
Somebody said you're a star, you're a star
But you got scared and you stopped trying

I have seen enough to know better baby I burn my bridges with a smile
Things are not as tough as they might have you believing
Before your soul is sold
Break the mold

Somebody said stay at home, stay at home
It won't work out, you just can't see
Somebody said only fools, only fools
Play a part that they don't feel

I have seen enough to know better baby I burn my bridges with a smile
Things are not as tough as they might have you believing
Before your soul is sold
Break the mold

Don't pretend it's alright
You can't spend your whole life
Waiting for your heart to change

I have seen enough to know better baby I burn my bridges with a smile
Things are not as tough as they might have you believing
Before your soul is sold
Break the mold

Love Out of the Blues

Written By: Eric Weinberg

She just had to get the midnight train
and go off and leave me while the night got young
There's no way I could've left that place alone
Girls all around, drinking with their tops down
Satin Jockeys with their moussed hair everywhere
I guess I should have seen her home
But I can't make love out of the blues

I just had to let myself go wild
and get closer to nature than she would allow
Arm in arm we found the door
Legs in a jigsaw, smokes in the top drawer
What do you mean you love me
I guess I should have let her know
That I can't make love out of the blues

She keeps talking about forever
But that's just a word that makes her cry

We just had to have a talk on the phone
I'd tell her I didn't mean to let her go off alone
Then my phone jumped right on cue
She said thanks for the warm nights it's really been a fun ride
But you don't love me like I love you
So we both knew
that I can't make love out of the blues
