Erie Heights Brass Ensemble

The Erie Heights Brass Ensemble, named for the small crossroads community overlooked on the Lake, was formed on a windy day in March of 1999. They perform about thirty concerts a year. These venues have included parks, malls, churches, libraries, etc. for both community and private events. Once or twice a year, the group performs an educational concert in the schools.

The Ensemble is a brass sextet consisting of two trumpets, horn, trombone, euphonium (baritone), and tuba. This configuration of instruments adds the euphonium to the standard brass quintet, creating the effect of a small, British style brass band while darkening the overall sound. The players are professional musicians from Ashtabula County in northeast Ohio. The Ensemble performs a wide variety of music ranging from the baroque and classical to the contemporary and popular including jazz and swing. For several years, thematic programming has been presented along with seasonal music such as Christmas music for the Holidays and Dixieland for Mardi Gras. Other programs and music for special occasions, such as for a wedding, is also available. If needed, generally only used for outdoor events, the Ensemble can provide its own sound system.
