Biography

The Erika Wright Band is a sister and brother duo that encapsulates all the sounds of rock, pop-folk, and hard blues. Their style incorporates traditional songwriting with unconventional song structures that will leave your soul aching. Erika was raised singing gospel music and her understanding for power, intensity, and soul come through in her music. Joined by her brother Daniel with his classical training in piano and heavy metal influence in guitar, their rock is infused with bits of soul, blues, folk and country, but a sound is all their own. Inspirations include Train, Janis Joplin, Brandi Carlile and 4 Non Blondes.

Erika began writing music on the piano at the age of 12, and had her first solo singing performance at age three, in the church Christmas play. With her family's strong roots in music and her early involvement in live performance music, Erika has been fortunate to sing and perform all over the world. After completing her Bachelor of Business at the University of Washington, Erika began songwriting with the guitar and recorded her self-titled demo CD in May 2004. Shortly after the demo was released, Erika was discovered by local production company, Pink on Vinyl, and Seattle producer Tom Pfaffle. The band recorded their debut album "This Puzzle." In 2010 the duo recorded a 5 song album called "All The Roads." The brother/sister duo wrote, recorded, engineered, and produced this long awaited project. Both Erika and Daniel have been involved in recording, writing, and producing projects in the Seattle, WA and the Bay Area, CA. Daniel has also co-written and recorded his own independent songs out of Montreal, Canada. He recieved national radio play and recoginition in canadian country music. They continue to play live shows and work on independent projects like American Idol (Daniel), Treehouse Orchaestra (Daniel), Karaoke Revolution (Erika).

With the cards falling into the right place, the duo has seen a huge fan following in cities like Seattle, San Francisco, Oakland, Minneapolis, Montreal, Vancouver. In the time that they have been playing music together, they continue to receive a great response from every venue/event they play. They have been lucky to share the stage with very talented performers like Brandi Carlile, Adrianne, Shannon Curfman, Lennon, Goddess & She, Animal Prufrock, Camille Bloom and many others.

Searching for Mine

Written By: Erika Wright and Lex Schmidt-Pederson

Do I float by when you smile
Do you feel me beside your heart
Can I hold you for awhile?
Cause I know that we're apart

I'd give you everything
Pretty gifts and shiny things
Make you my everything
Make you want more than this
Make you want more than this

And I see you in the waves
The way it sparkles when you'd shine
I search the crowd for you face
Are still searchin' for mine?

Do I back into the softness of your bed?
How do I seep into the visions in your head?
Why won't you sacrifice your time?
When all I want is for you to want mine
All I want is for you to want mine

And I see you in the waves
The way it sparkles when you'd shine
I search the crowd for you face
Are still searchin' for mine?

Do you even know me?
After all this time together
And am I still a mystery?
Well, I'm standing right in front of you

And I'm seeing that you're nowhere
Noticing your not mine
I feel the sickness coming over me
I find I'm nowhere you'll find
I find I'm nowhere you'll find

Apparently

Written By: Erika Wright

Apparently I don’t pass your test
This certain quality I must posses
And I can’t say all the right things
Won’t move the right way
And I don’t have your pretty face

Well it hurt when you asked me to leave
Don’t come back ‘til your just like me
And you pray that day will someday come
While I whisper to God
I hope it never does
Never Does

And all my mistakes don’t seem to fall under this grace
And I fell right through the holes in His hands that seemed to hold it all
I thought I knew all the answers, and trusted all your lies
You think I’m lost, but now I know that I am found

Apparently I’m not good enough
Play cards of love and call your bluff
And if I’d a known your forgiveness had edges
I’d never live
In the box you created

My habits are hard to break
Hard to look at and hard to take
‘Cause I wear them proudly on my chest
and you're just mad 'cause
and you can’t fix this mess

And all my mistakes don’t seem to fall under this grace
And I fell right through the holes in His hands that seemed to hold it all
I thought I knew all the answers, and trusted all your lies
You think I’m lost, but now I know that I am found

Watch my back as I walk out the door
Make sure my footprints aren’t left on your floor
Take my name off all your lists
Point your finger and shake your fist

And my crooked path it will never straight
I like it yeah I like it this way
Cause it winds right up to the mountain peak
And it makes me strong
And it makes me free

And all my mistakes don’t seem to fall under this grace
And I fell right through the holes in His hands that seemed to hold it all
I thought I knew all the answers, and trusted all your lies
You think I’m lost, but now I know that I am found

Unsatisfied

Written By: Erika Wright

Unsatisfied

First night without you by my side
I cried the whole night through
And the empty sheets you used to occupy
I can’t do it without you

Ooh and I miss you
Brown eyes I miss you

Read the letters you wrote
Reminds me how it felt
And I drop down on my knees and pray
That this foolish dreams might melt

Ooh and I miss you
Brown eyes I miss you

And I can’t get enough of you
You’re always on my mind
And I can’t get enough of you
You’re all I think about

After all the words we yell
Our home torn apart
Wounded hearts on our battlefield
You didn’t understand me
My love is too demanding
I had to let you go
I had to let you go

Ooh and I miss you
Brown eyes I miss you

And I can’t get enough of you
You’re always on my mind
And I can’t get enough of you
You’re all I think about

Strong

Written By: Erika Wright & Daniel Wright

(V1)Strangled love
‘Til it’s cold and blue
Love and is just the mist
Left on our lips
But I am numb And I can’t feel it
Anything that means Something

(PRE)And I am just barely enough
Barely enough for you
Oh and I am just barely enough
Barely enough for you

(V2)Try and try But my hands are tied
I just can’t seem to say
The right things
The moments come And they pass us by
Guess I am gonna have to
Give up this time

(PRE)Cause you are just barely enough
Barely enough for me
Oh and you are just barely enough
You’re barely enough for me

CHORUS
And I don’t want to be
Made of simple compromises and self disguises
I just want to be
All that I believe in and doing what I’m dreamin
And I don’t want to be
Weak and walked all over and drunk but never sober
I just want to be
Strong

(BREAK)You’ll never let me be the one
I wanna be and I’ve become tired
Of saying things won’t be the same
But knowing that they never change
And I want to, and I need to
CHORUS
And I don’t want to be
Made of simple compromises and self disguises
I just want to be
All that I believe in and doing what I’m dreamin
And I don’t want to be
Weak and walked all over and drunk but never sober
I just want to be
Strong
