Erik Berglund's music could be characterized as pop-jazz. It is very melodic and often upbeat in the style of The Beatles. Like Norah Jones, he also enjoys incorporating rich jazz chords into his slower songs.

Biography

Erik Berglund's influences include The Beatles, Elliott Smith, Norah Jones, Diana Ross, Stevie Wonder, and many more. He has played piano since he was a child, but in the 10th grade he taught himself to sing by singing along to the oldies station. "Brown-Eyed Girl" was his inspiration to start writing pop songs. After college, he moved to Austin, Texas to get involved in the music scene, and he recently met great musicians Ali and Andy, who play drums and guitar. He plans to make music his career.

Lyrics

One Thing

Written By: Erik Berglund

Used to think my life was about just one thing
And that I could never love anyone

What I discovered so surprising
Is that I'm not the only one without love

Most of us still believed that we could conceive of love
While the rest of us tried to leave thinking that we'd had enough

So I wandered the evenings endlessly
Still believing there was nothing left to see

And the other travelers on my way
Had begun to lose their hope and fade away

Most of us still believed that we could conceive of love
While the rest of us tried to leave thinking that we'd had enough.

The Long Road

Written By: Erik Berglund

It's been a long and lonely road
And now it's finally time to go
And though we never knew what to expect
You know I always gave my best

But all this time that you've been here
Has felt like music
To my ears

So see you around
If only for now
'Cause we both know that this time will arrive again
And when it does I'll be standing here my friend

If I could fly
Straight back through time
I'd head right out to the place where it all began
And lift you up so you'd never have to land.

Attractive

Written By: Erik Berglund

It must be hard
Being so attractive
Never knowing
If they really love you for who you are

You're in your car
Getting them distracted
And you know it
They will never love you for who you are

But I won't do that to do you if won't do that to me
No I won't be bad to you if you won't be bad to me

'Cause there's nothing left to do but go on happily
Happily
Happily

"How've you been?"
All the men are asking
But they don't
They don't really care 'bout how you feel

A phony grin
Is all that you can answer
And you know it
They don't really want something that's real

But I won't do that to do you if won't do that to me
No I won't be bad to you if you won't be bad to me

'Cause there's nothing left to do but go on happily
Happily
Happily

You Were On My Mind

Written By: Erik Berglund

You were on my mind today
But I knew I should walk away
Because things aren't how they used to be
We can't change our history

I know that you've moved on
But the memories live on
Now they're all that I have to hold on to
There's no point, it's so lonely without you

See you around
Wish you well
We both know that it's the best thing for us now
You know that I loved you but now that it's over see you around

If I could find a way
I would throw all those words away
Because I never meant to bring you down
You lifted me up more times than I can count

See you around
Wish you well
We both know that it's the best thing for us now
You know that I loved you but now that it's over see you around

Set List

The set list depends on the venue. I have a set list of mellower songs for cafes and a set of rock songs for the clubs. The set list for cafes is quite long, and it is meant to cover some 3 or so hours. The following are several originals that I play:

She Has A Light
You Were
Attractive
Pull Me Up
Just Go Along
I Surprised You
No Matter What
One Thing
